The Team
As a member of the Operations Transformations - Sustainability & Climate Change team, you will embark on an exciting and fulfilling journey with a group of intelligent and innovative globally aware individuals. The team provides a range of advisory and assurance services to clients in the private and public sector on a broad range of aspects for clients who plan to or are already disclosing against established sustainability reporting standards or frameworks such as Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Task Force on Climate- Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Principles for Responsible Investing, IFC Operating Principles for Impact Management, UN Global Compact, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the GHG Protocol, CDP, and the International Integrated Reporting Council Integrated Reporting Framework.
The focus of the team is on strategic analyses of key concerns in sustainability climate change, science based targets, carbon markets, and decarbonization ESG circular economy and related disclosures - including strategy development, implementation, data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, governance systems, sustainable finance, stakeholder engagement, reporting and assurance.
Work you'll do
You will be working on solving full spectrum of sustainability and climate change challenges across a wide range of clients across industry sectors. You will not just be working on ideas and recommendations to solve the client's challenges, in most cases you would also be walking with the client in implementing those recommendations and in advising clients as they establish and improve internal processes for collecting, analyzing, measuring, and reporting information.

Your Prime Responsibilities
- Working both collaboratively and individually as a part of project teams to address complex market, strategic, operational, and organizational issues across environmental & social aspects and manage project tasks, analysis, and deliverables
- Understand client requirements, project scope and deliverable requirements
- Undertake research, stakeholder engagement analysis and packaging of client deliverables. Gather information via primary client interviews and workshops, as well as secondary research, test hypothesis and provide analysis of the data to derive key findings for the client.
- Perform data validation and analysis. Develop models and draw key insights from the results and develop client recommendations
- Formulate robust, and grounded business plans to support strategic sustainability initiatives for the clients and advise them on adoption of programs and processes for the same.
- Aggregate findings and recommendations into reports, presentations, and/or dashboards, and contribute to formulating and distilling deep insightful takeaways for the clients
- Sustainability-related assurance procedures such as evaluating and testing ESG data and processes and related controls
- Participate and lead in client meetings for presenting the findings and recommendations to the client
- Business Development:
- Add to the team's existing list of priority and potential clients and sustainability offerings
- Assist proposal team in conducting sector research, research to support client context, conducting analysis on client situation, preparing proposal document, etc.
- Assist in scope and approach definition in collaboration with Associate Directors, Directors, etc.
- Support propositions, engagements, and large strategic pursuits across Deloitte's service areas.
- Thought Leadership / Point of View (PoV) development:
- Research and analysis on sustainability mega trends, industry issues, issue definition for sectors/industry/clients
- Contribute towards capturing analysis findings and Deloitte's unique points of view on topical issues with guidance from senior practitioners
- Support practice development through knowledge management, participating in and delivering trainings, and upskilling the team on general project management and sustainability issues, tools, challenges, and trends.
Skills Required
- Undergraduate degree in sustainability, business, environmental studies, or another related program. MBA/M. Tech./M.E. will be preferred
- 12+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in frameworks (like the TCFD, SASB, GRI, CDP) as well as various ESG rating methodologies.
- Experience in sustainability reporting sustainability target setting carbon accounting climate change sustainable finance techno-commercial assessments emissions modelling & scenario development carbon pricing, carbon markets & trading ESG governance and circular economy.
- Good knowledge of concepts and policy options in one or more of the following sub-areas: climate change, GHG and Carbon neutrality decarbonization and energy transitions
- Sustainability certification (e.g., GRI or SASB's Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting credential a plus)
- Strong data analytics and visualization skills, comfortable working with large datasets, both in Excel and beyond.
- Ability to create compelling narrative within ESG and corporate sectors
- Ability to take up economic analysis, financial analysis
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong network in climate change and sustainability fraternity
- A fast learner who can pick up a new sector, industry, or a concept very quickly
- Out-of-box thinking and an inclination for problem solving
- A thorough team player and proven ability to lead teams
- Research, analysis, macroeconomic modelling, and problem-solving capabilities
- Adaptability to travel and change
