Promote evidenced based Infection Control practices to health care workers, patients, and their families
Act as a resource to clinical areas on matters related to Infection Control
Provide education to departments or individuals on infection control
Create and maintain links with all departments to facilitate effective communication
Ensure maintenance of skills base and professional practice by attendance at relevant lectures, conferences, and workshops and by regularly reviewing infection control and related published research
Ensure infection control standards meet professional, organisational, legal, and ethical requirements
Participate in surveillance activities and hand hygiene audits to ensure data is submitted to external agencies within required time frames to meet Austin Healths statement of priorities
Feedback data to key stakeholders to demonstrate infection control program successes or improvement opportunities
Promote and maintain records of staff immunisation against vaccine preventable diseases
Actively participate in Austin Health multidisciplinary and nursing committees to promote Infection Control best practice and to share information
Review infection control guidelines and policies as required and communicate changes to key stakeholders
Initiate and participate in research relevant to infection control to add to the body of evidence which guides practice
Provide reports to the Infection Control and associated Committees monthly or as required
Manage occupational exposure to blood and body fluids and other infectious diseases
Repeated training programme to be conducted for all the categories: Procedure for Hand Washing, wearing the gloves/PPE
