About the Department n th Bio, our enterprise biology platform, is the first of its kind to help partners of all sizes join us in creating a kinder, greener future through precision fermentation. nth Bio is focused on piloting and scaling our technology to partners across industries, including food, agriculture, pharmaceutical, biologics, textile, and personal care to create products in a new, sustainable way.
We're a growing department that provides High throughput screening (HTS) support for multiple projects and our goal is to provide high quality HTS data with a short turnaround time and generate information in a manner that drives decision making through data analysis and data visualization.
Position Summary Strong fundamental knowledge in development and validation of high throughput methods for screening, and automation of processes. Contribute to development of new automation & screening technologies to enhance efficiency and robustness. Responsible for performing regular R&D activities and collaborating with multiple teams. Scientist will work with cross-functional team and oversee running of the Liquid Handling System (LHS) and supporting in regular HTS workflow.
What You Will Do You will be responsible for supporting regular Automation & HTS workflow.
- Read and understand new strategies for Assay Development, HTS and automation toolbox for biomolecules.
- Development, validation, and implementation of rapid and robust screening platform for proteins
- Responsible for end-to-end HTS to support ongoing project.
- Proactively plan and multitask to maximize efficiency.
- Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
- Contribute to new concepts and ideas and extend intellectual understanding to the team.
- Able to learn, manage and train junior colleagues and new joiners.
- Encourage team effort and capable of coordinating work plan with colleagues.

- Ability to analyse and trouble shoot experimental problems effectively.

- To coordinate work with other functions/departments to achieve project objectives.
- Act as interface between associated project groups, including downstream processing, analytical development, technical project leads and manufacturing.
- Communication of experimental results.
- Automation & Assay development and optimization of various methods including but not limited to SDS-PAGE, Western blot, 96/384 well plate HTS-assays, expanding the application of LH-robotic system
- Data and statistical analysis, reporting, and communicating results to an interdisciplinary group of scientists.

- Maintain timely documentation of work.

Education, Experience & Other Requirements - B. Tech with 4-5 years of experience or M. Sc or M. Tech (Biotechnology, Life science, Microbiology) with 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Familiar with protein structure and chemistry; experience handling proteins in a laboratory setting
- Skilled at developing assay & automation toolbox/method for HTS of different proteins with different characteristics.
- Maintain accurate records of ongoing projects in adherence with documentation standards and assist in generation and review of reports and contribute to trouble shooting efforts
- Able to work in a structured environment under limited to moderate supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficient in contributing effectively in multidisciplinary teams to successfully meet stakeholder expectations.
- Ability to resolve complex issues within tight timeframes while maintaining procedural integrity.

Additional knowledge and skills desired - Analysis tools such as JMP /MS Excel.
- Software expertise in MS Office and scientific tools such as GraphPad Prism.
- Operation of Spectrophotometer, gel apparatus etc.
