Applications, Controls & Electrical Converter & Electrical Module Transformer

Vestas Power Solutions is the R&D function of Vestas. Within the business unit Vestas Power Solutions, the department Converter & Electrical Module is responsible for technology and product development of the wind turbine's frequency converters, their control, and high-voltage transformers, switchgear and cables. The department is responsible of several Sub Modules, of which one specifically covers Switchgears and Cables. Switchgears and Cables are designed, manufactured and tested by qualified suppliers based on Technical Purchase Specifications and through cooperation with the Switchgear & Cables Sub-Module that is located in Portugal and India. We provide first in class solutions meeting system and grid requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of conceptual 3d model of high voltage cables and potentially other high voltage equipment
  • Bill of materials creation and maintenance in Windchill
  • Proficient CAD Software Utilization: Demonstrated expertise in utilizing specialist CAD software, such as Creo, Creo View, to create accurate 3D models
  • Ability to efficiently interpret technical specifications and transform concepts into practical designs
  • Meticulous Attention to Detail: Exhibit precision and diligence in design work, maintaining adherence to industry standards and meticulous checking of dimensions, measurements, and annotations to guarantee the highest quality output
  • Creative Problem-Solving, Proven ability to overcome complex design challenges with ingenuity and practical thinking
  • Capable of identifying effective solutions and optimizing designs for enhanced performance and efficiency
  • Effective Collaboration and Communication: Excel in multidisciplinary team environments, actively engaging with architects, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Good communication skills to articulate ideas, actively participate in design discussions, and deliver compelling design presentations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's / Master's in Mechanical / Industrial Design / Similar engineering specialization
  • Demonstrated expertise in Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
  • Exemplary problem-solving abilities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Facilitating effective collaboration within a team-oriented environment

Competencies

  • Proven experience as a CAD Engineer
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo, Creo View)
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, mechanics, and materials
  • Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork
  • Experience with high voltage transformers is good to have
  • Experience with PDM link and BOM creation
