We're looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, hands-on and high-performing Controller to join a global Finance team in Coimbatore, India.
This position is responsible for all financial matters pertaining to the India region and shall support the Global Controller in the United States on the monthly consolidation and financial close activities. These responsibilities include overseeing journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, internal financial reporting and financial analysis.
The ideal candidate will possess in-depth general ledger experience, a thorough understanding of financial best practices and strong technical accounting knowledge. This position will report to the Managing Director, Rently India.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all financial activities for the India subsidiary(ies) including the monthly close process (reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, transfer pricing allocations and other balance sheet and P&L item)
- Coordinate with accounting teams in the US parent company on intercompany transactions and assist in the global consolidation and monthly close activities
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with local requirements (India GAAP/IFRS)
- Ensure accounting policies meet requirements of the US parent company to ensure consolidation in US GAAP
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial reports, integrity of corporate data and safeguarding of assets to comply with IFC requirements
- Develop detailed expense projections and other ad-hoc financial reports on behalf of the MD and Global Controller and take necessary corrective actions where identified
- Manage local government reporting requirements, including tax filings, to ensure statutory compliance for GST, payroll and related taxes
- Lead annual financial audits for subsidiary(ies) and financial statement footnote disclosures
- Perform accounting research, conducting investigations, and/or studies sufficient to recommend change in accounting policies, practices, and procedures
- Drive cost containment focus to improve overall profitability and productivity
- Support annual budgeting and planning process
- Manage finance team based out of Coimbatore and other satellite offices in India.
- Ad hoc responsibilities as needed
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance; advanced degree preferred
- Prior experience as a Controller or Finance Director is preferred
- Prior experience managing a high performing accounting team
- Deep understanding of Ind AS and IFRS based accounting standards
- Experience with NetSuite strongly preferred
- Strong verbal and communication skills as well as supervisory skills required
- Strong Excel skills
- Maturity to influence key stakeholders and ability to communicate clearly advanced accounting and financial concepts
- CA qualification desirable
