Role Description This role is part of Arcadis’ Global Excellence Centre (GEC) and will join our 3,000+ talented individuals working in India, Romania, and Philippines, in partnership with Arcadis’ offices globally. We are now recruiting talented individuals to fill our current vacancy for Design Engineer, UK Civils, to work on our projects in UK, from Bangalore. To be considered for a role we are seeking candidates with the following credentials: Job Title – Design Engineer – Civils (UK) Qualification & Experience ; • B.E./ M.E. / M. Tech from a recognized University. • 6+ years’ experience. Job Description: We have an exciting opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer to join our growing Energy Team as we widen our skills to remain at the forefront of our industry and support the country’s journey to zero carbon emissions through our Energy Transition goals. Our team’s offer to the market is unique. Arcadis provides Design and Consultancy services in combination with deep expertise in built assets. Our Energy Team is involved in some of the UK’s most complex and stimulating projects that are both diverse and technically demanding. We also provide global interactions as we embrace cross-region collaboration. We manage the design and support in delivery of a variety of technical projects for clients such as Scottish Power, Scottish and Southern Energy, construction companies and several renewables organizations, both onshore and offshore, covering wind, solar and battery energy storage systems. This role will be primarily associated with our onshore Engineering Frameworks, where you will be exposed to design inputs associated with the construction of new and refurbishment of existing substations electrical infrastructure up to 400kV to support network upgrades and connection of renewable generation. You will have the opportunity to support our offshore portfolio of works on an ad-hoc basis as this continues to grow. Principal Duties & Key Responsibilities: Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Delivery of allocated technical work elements and design activities for preparation of outline & detailed design drawings and associated other Construction - Ready documentation, all in accordance with the Company’s quality, safety and project management/engineering procedures and controls. Develop design methodologies for your projects by carrying out appropriate research. Preparation of clear and well-structured design calculations, reports, drawings and other deliverables Checking / vetting all designs before issue To be technically innovative in solution of project demands Liaison with the Client, contractors, the supply chain and other project stakeholders. Compliance with relevant H & S regulations and to follow company procedures. Communication with Project Design leads, discipline leads and Arcadis Global Design Centers. To proactively deliver technical solutions as guided by your Senior/ Principal Engineers Grow your technical appreciation of other key disciplines Substation electrical equipment overhead lines and cables etc. Develop/ Review plans and budgets for your projects. Guide regional team/ clients through the technical decision-making process and provide alternative solutions as required Creating a supportive environment and ensure effective task delegation within your team Ensuring that reusable data is collated, stored, and shared with design teams Provide design input to CAD/BIM and co-ordinate with CAD/BIM staff for preparation of drawings. Awareness of Sustainability best practices Awareness of Arcadis digital strategies and takes interest and initiatives aligning towards digitalization. Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time. Required Competencies : Good working knowledge and understanding of applicable British Standards, UK Industry Codes of Practice and Energy company specifications. An appreciation of / exposure to detailed design or construction within the UK Energy sector would be an advantage but is not essential. Sound work experience in energy sector for the following asset types, but not limited to, Substations Switchyards, Overhead/ Buried lines, and cables Transformers and related foundations Control Buildings DG Buildings Site Grading Ancillary site facilities, such as water supply, drainage, foul sewer, site security arrangements, access roads etc. Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams, preferably in the Energy sector. Well-developed outline, feasibility, and detailed design skills. A good level of experience working within a civil engineering capacity. Ability to deliver quality outputs and meet project timelines effectively. Experience with working in the BIM/ digital engineering environment (REVIT, Civil 3D, Navisworks) Knowledge of Eurocodes Sound knowledge of UK industry specifications. Ability to adapt to changing situations, with the talent to think effectively and clearly and implement effective solutions when faced with challenging stakeholders. Wider design or construction related experience is preferred. Good communication skills. Ability to deliver complex projects Good knowledge of Microsoft office. A strong, self-motivated and assertive person capable of working under pressure. Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels Flexible to adopt new work /challenge work as per business requirement Why Arcadis?
