Job description
Barry Wehmiller Design Group is looking for Engineer Mechanical-1 to join our dynamic team and embark on a rewarding career journey
- Design and Development:Conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical components, systems, and products based on project requirements, specifications, and design standards
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and modeling tools to create detailed designs, 2D drawings, and 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies
- Analysis and Simulation:Perform structural analysis, thermal analysis, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical designs
- Interpret analysis results, identify design flaws, and optimize mechanical structures to meet performance targets and regulatory requirements
- Prototyping and Testing:Build prototypes, test specimens, and mock-ups to validate design concepts, verify functionality, and conduct performance testing under simulated operating conditions
- Design and implement test plans, procedures, and protocols to assess mechanical properties, material characteristics, and product durability
- Manufacturing and Production Support:Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, production teams, and suppliers to optimize manufacturing processes, select materials, and ensure manufacturability of mechanical designs
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting assistance, and quality assurance oversight during the production, assembly, and testing of mechanical components and systems
- Documentation and Reporting:Prepare engineering documentation, technical specifications, bill of materials (BOM), and design documentation to communicate design intent, manufacturing requirements, and assembly instructions
- Generate engineering reports, design reviews, and project documentation to document design decisions, analysis results, and project milestones
- Regulatory Compliance:Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations governing mechanical design, product safety, and environmental requirements
- Perform risk assessments, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and compliance audits to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle
- Collaboration and Communication:Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to integrate mechanical designs into multidisciplinary projects and product development initiatives
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to gather requirements, address concerns, and facilitate the successful execution of engineering projects
