Computational Image Analysis (Assistant/Associate Professor Level)

One Faculty Position in neurosciences/neuroimaging or computational biomedical image analysis with a focus on orthopedics is available at the Symbiosis Centre for Medical Image Analysis (SCMIA) ( Symbiosis International University, Pune, India. The center is one of a kind in India. It uniquely performs translational research in medical imaging through its access to the Engineering Institute (Symbiosis Institute of Technology) and the Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre. The center has dedicated research access to engineering (networking technologies, robotics, etc.), computational (servers, GPU workstations, etc.), and medical (MRI, CT imaging scanners, and data) facilities.

SCMIA aspires to be the topmost research institute in medical image analysis and is therefore searching for research faculties (National and International) that have a proven research record in the combined domains of medical image analysis, deep learning, and machine learning. The successful candidate would be required to have expertise in solving clinical problems through the domains of neuroimaging, MEG/EEG signal analysis, breast/cardiac/abdomen/spine/musculoskeletal imaging, etc.Â

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include writing and obtaining grant proposals, guiding Masters, Ph.D. students, and post-doctoral fellows, and creating national and international collaborations and publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals. The position requires the candidate to work in a multidisciplinary environment involving engineers, radiologists, statisticians, surgeons, and clinicians.

Qualifications

Ph.D. with First class or equivalent (in terms of Grades) at the preceding degree and an excellent academic record. ABDs are also encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a background in one of the following domains: Electronics and telecommunications, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, MR Physics, etc., with a specialty in medical imaging . We are looking for candidates who have a passion and translational expertise in one or more of the following areas: deep learning/machine learning for medical imaging; musculoskeletal imaging-based biomechanics; functional neuroimaging (fMRI); diffusion MRI; radiomics or radio-genomics; applied AI for medical image analysis; computational imaging; image-guided medical robotics; and advanced medical imaging technologies. A knowledge of handling high-end computing systems and GPU servers such as NVIDIA DGX would be a plus.

Experience

At least three years of research experience, excluding the experience gained while pursuing a Ph.D. for Associate Positions. For the Assistant Prof. Position, a post-doc of at least two years after PhD is highly preferred. The candidate should have demonstrated research capabilities in publications in reputed journals and conferences. Eligible candidates with less than the requisite experience may also be considered if they have a proven publication record.
