Job Details

The role is for a Process Engineer in Ion-Plating department with expertise in Ion-Plating / PVD technologies. The role involves operating and maintaining Ion-Plating equipment, developing coating process recipes, troubleshooting, and performing FMEA. Additionally, the selected candidate will support the development processes to implement innovative technologies and coating processes for all watch components, with the aim of improving customer satisfaction, product quality, and meeting other business requirements.

Job Requirements

Education

M. Tech. in Thin Films / Material Science / Industrial Tribology with Thin Film Applications
Or
B.E/B.Tech (Materials Science/ Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering)

Relevant Experience

3-5 yrs. industrial experience

Technical Experience

. Hands on experience on Vacuum Tech and Thin Film deposition (Especially Arc and Magnetron Sputtering) is required.
. Hands on Experience on colour coatings is preferrable.
. Experience in Metallurgy is preferred. ( Exposure to gold metallurgy will be an added advantage)

Knowledge

. Knowledge on Materials characterization is required.
. Knowledge on Tribology - Friction, Wear and corrosion Studies of coatings is preferred

Plating equipment & machines (PVD)

1. Adhering to coating process recipes of Plating and ensure quality of the plated products
2. Adhering and developing Standard operating procedure for Machine operation, pre-coating and post-coating operations
3. Managing the plating shop with assigned man power and responsible for the outgoing quality of the coated products.
4. Troubleshooting of machines Keep machines in production 'fit' condition along with Maintenance & Production Departments

. Trouble-free operation of machines
. First time acceptance of the coated products

. Increased machine capacity utilization

Process Improvement and New process establishment

1. Process optimization of the existing coating processes
2. Troubleshooting of coating processes along with PED team
3. Process optimization for establishing new colour coatings along with PED team with acceptable tribological properties like wear resistance, corrosion resistance, etc.

. Acceptable quality and quality improvement
. New processes established

. Cost saving by implementing alternate materials
. Number of new processes

Plating defect and quality analysis

1. Perform Root-cause-analysis for any defects in plating, identified through market returns
2. Identify and implement strategies for root-cause elimination through process improvement, change in technique or through elimination of steps by coordinating with PED team.

. Acceptable quality and quality improvement of all the colours

. No. of FMEA studies done
. No. of changes implemented
. Reduced market returns.

Capability Development

Addresses on technical queries / problems of employees involved in plating
