Purpose Of The Position The Metal Fabrication Designer plays a crucial role in the furniture manufacturing process by designing, developing, and overseeing the fabrication of metal components used in the production of furniture items. This position requires a blend of creative design skills, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of metal fabrication processes and materials such as MS, SS, Brass, Aluminium etc.
Key Responsibilities & Duties - Identify and recommend suitable metals and alloys based on project requirements, considering factors such as durability, strength, and aesthetics.
- Work closely with product designers, engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of metal components into the overall furniture design.
- Produce detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for metal fabrication, including measurements, tolerances, and finishing requirements.
- Establish and maintain quality control standards to ensure that metal components meet design specifications and industry standards.
- Identify and manage relationships with metal fabrication suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance metal fabrication processes, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure that all metal fabrication activities adhere to safety regulations and best practices.
- Learn and implement new machines and technologies for upgradation.
- Make BOM for all designed products for the purchase department.
Academic & Trades Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) shall be a plus
- Proven experience in metal fabrication design, preferably in the furniture manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software and other relevant design tools.
- Strong knowledge of various metals and their properties.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to metal fabrication.
Work Experience & Skills Total Experience: Min 4 years
Relevant Experience: Min 2 years
They may occasionally need to visit manufacturing facilities to gain a better understanding of the production process or to assist with quality control.
