Job description
Overview:
As a short and long form video editor specializing in social media content, your primary role will be to create engaging and compelling videos that captivate audiences on various social media platforms. You will be responsible for editing and enhancing videos on platforms such as youtube, instagram and tiktok while it aligns with defined brand guidelines, reference styles and objectives. Your creativity, technical skills and attention to detail will play a crucial role in delivering high quality video content that drives audience engagement and achieves the desired results.
Responsibilities:
- Footage Review: Carefully review raw footage and identify the best takes and shots suitable for Short and Long Form Videos (As per platform requirements). Familiarize yourself with the content and understand the desired outcome , ensuring it aligns with the platform's requirements and trends.
- Editing: utilize video editing software specialized for social media platforms to assemble and edit footage, create captivating Reels and long form talking videos. Ensure smooth transitions, proper sequencing, and pacing, optimizing the video's length for maximum engagement, based on the style of the client.
- Color Correction & Grading: Enhance the visual appeal of videos by adjusting color, tones and overall aesthetic through color correction and grading techniques. Maintain consistency in color and tone to create an eye-catching and cohesive visual style.
- Audio Editing: Improve audio quality by adjusting levels, removing background noise, and syncing appropriate sound effects and music. Ensure that the audio complements the visual elements of the video and enhances the overall viewing experience
- Graphics and Titles: Incorporate visually appealing graphics, text overlays, lower thirds and other engaging visual elements into short and long videos. Create and animate titles and captions that convey important information and capture viewers attention.
- Visual Effects: Apply captivating visual effects, such as transitions, filters and motion graphics to enhance the visual impact of the videos. Use effects judiciously and aesthetically to maintain the video's overall tone and style while grabbing the viewers attention.
- Storytelling and Narrative Flow: Understand the intended message or story of the video and ensure that the editing supports and enhances the narrative flow of the videos. Utilize pacing, timing, and sequencing techniques to create a compelling and engaging video experience.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our team to understand the vision and objectives of each video. Collaborate and communicate effectively to ensure the video aligns with the desired outcome, incorporating feedback and suggestions to enhance the final product.
- Quality Control: Conduct a thorough review of the edited videos to ensure accuracy, visual and audio quality and adherence to platform specific requirements. Make necessary adjustments and revisions based on feedback or identified issues , ensuring the videos meet high-quality standards.
- Time Management: Effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to ensure timely delivery. Efficiently manage time to complete editing tasks, maintaining a consistent workflow.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest video editing techniques, software features and industry trends specific to social media short form and long form videos. Continuously improve your skills and explore new creative approaches to enhance the quality and engagement of the videos.
- File Management: Organize and maintain project files.
- Ensure files are organized on Google Drive as required.
- Complete the end of day task sheet and share it with the manager.
SMART Expectations:

- Edit and finalize a minimum of 4 short videos (reels/shorts/tik tok videos) per day or 1 long form video (5-10 minutes) per day, ensuring high quality editing, adherence to platform-specific requirements and timely delivery.
- Responds to feedback and revisions with a turn around time of 24 hours.
- Complete the review and selection of footage for each project within 24 hours of receiving the raw footage, allowing for an efficient start of the editing process.
- Achieve smooth transitions, proper sequencing and pacing in each edited video, resulting in an engaging viewing experience that captivates the audience via views.
- Improve audio quality by adjusting levels, removing background noise and syncing appropriate sound effects and music, ensuring that the audio complements and enhances the visual elements, resulting in an immersive and high quality audio visual experience.
- Collaborate effectively with the team, providing responses within 24 hours feedback and incorporating suggestions to align each video with the desired outcome and client preferences, fostering a collaborative and successful video editing process.
- Conduct thorough quality control checks with NO spelling errors on each edited video ensuring accuracy, visual and audio quality and adherence to platform specific requirements before final delivery, resulting in high quality videos that meet or exceed set expectations.
- If we are unable to meet deadlines for any project or deliverables, proactively notify all stakeholders involved at the earliest (no more than 24 business hours) to provide clear and accurate updates on when to expect deliverables.
Internal Meeting Cadence:
- Attend and participate in weekly editor meeting
- Attend and participate in 1:1 with creative producer
- Fill out EOD form daily
