Job description
Responsibilities
- Product development and testing: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop advanced PV products that integrate the designed DC-DC converters. This will involve selecting appropriate semiconductor devices, magnetics, and control algorithms to achieve optimal efficiency and performance. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the products meet industry standards, safety requirements, and performance targets.
- Component Selection and Evaluation: Source and evaluate components critical to the converter's performance, such as semiconductor devices, inductors, capacitors, and feedback control components, based on your industry knowledge and experience.
- Prototype Development and Testing: Work closely with the hardware team to build prototypes of DC-DC converters and PV optimizers. Conduct rigorous testing and validation of the prototypes, identifying potential issues, and proposing design improvements.
- Efficiency Enhancement: Continuously research and implement innovative techniques to enhance the efficiency and performance of DC-DC converters.
- Design Documentation: Prepare detailed design documentation, including specifications, schematics, and PCB layouts. Ensure that all design changes and updates are adequately recorded.
- Collaboration and Technical Support: Collaborate with the firmware and software teams to integrate power electronics systems seamlessly into the product. Provide technical support during product integration and testing phases.
- Vendor Development and Contract Manufacturing: The candidates must have knowledge of component suppliers and device manufacturers in the power electronics industry. Must have a basic understanding of various contract terms and conditions.
- Tracking Industry Trends: Stay up to date with the latest developments in power electronics applications in renewable energy and apply relevant insights to improve our products and maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications - Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of industry experience in power electronics design and development, with a focus on DC-DC converters for renewable energy applications.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor devices, magnetics, and control algorithms used in power electronics.
- Knowledge of microcontrollers, firmware, communication protocols.
- Proficiency in circuit simulation and analysis tools, PCB layout design and Design for Manufacturability practices.
- Experience in prototype development, testing, and validation of power electronics systems.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of industry landscape, supply chain, manufacturers, and contract terms.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to finding innovative solutions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Good knowledge of photovoltaic systems is preferred
