Application Support Engineer (Trading Applications - Finmechanic & Maxtrader)
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Application Support Engineer to join our team and provide critical support for our trading applications, including Finmechanic and Maxtrader. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, stability, and performance of these mission-critical applications, supporting trading operations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Support:
- Monitor and maintain the availability of Finmechanic and Maxtrader trading applications.
- Provide tier-2 and tier-3 support for trading-related issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Respond to incidents and service requests from traders and other stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and address potential system bottlenecks or performance issues.
- Troubleshooting:
- Investigate and diagnose trading application issues, including Java code, SQL queries, Apache Tomcat, and Linux server components.
- Collaborate with development teams to analyze and resolve complex technical problems.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to avoid recurring issues.
- Deployment and Maintenance:
- Manage and coordinate application deployments and updates, working closely with development and release management teams.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as software upgrades and server configurations.
- Ensure the security and compliance of trading applications.
- Monitoring and Alerts:
- Set up and configure monitoring tools to proactively detect anomalies and potential system failures.
- Respond to alerts promptly and take necessary actions to prevent or mitigate downtime.
- Documentation and Training:
- Create and maintain documentation for support procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting guidelines.
- Train and mentor junior support staff and traders on best practices for system usage and issue reporting.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with traders, quantitative analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Liaise with third-party vendors and support teams for integrated systems and external data feeds.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in application support for trading applications, particularly Finmechanic and Maxtrader.
- Strong knowledge of Java, SQL, Apache Tomcat, and Linux.
- Familiarity with financial instruments, trading concepts, and market data feeds is highly desirable.
- Experience with FIX protocol and electronic trading systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation for system tasks (e.g., Shell scripting).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading environment.
- IT certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Java Programmer, Red Hat Certified Engineer) are advantageous.
