DESCRIPTION

A Senior Risk Manager, APAC- TERA is a People Manager, responsible for managing a complex and/or expansive sub-region within APAC. The Sr Risk Manager - TERA reports directly to a Senior Risk & Resilience Manager (APAC). They manage a team of Risk Analysts, providing expert direction and guidance on monitoring, collection, and analysis. Their key stakeholders /
customers are Sr. Regional Loss Prevention Managers (Sr. RLPM), Senior Operations Managers, Site leads, PxT, Public Policy, Employee Relations, Finance and Legal (all regional scope). The Sr RM -TERA is both tactical and operational, but supports the Sr. Mgr, RM with highly complex operational tasks, as well as informs or consults on strategic decisions. Sr. RM works independently, using expertise and judgment to spot risks and challenges, and determines the right stakeholders to inform decisions affecting the problem. Sr RM is responsible for complex problems, decisions, and escalates to a Sr. Mgr, RM when problems become highly complex or when meeting significant blockers (e.g., differing customer expectations, data quality issues, business rules, compliance requirements, technology and resource limitations). They initiate and own complex projects, programs, and tasks aimed at protecting Amazon life, assets, operations, and brand. Sr RM uses their expertise to unblocks teams, and leads discussions to align on complex business problems and solutions, using their expert knowledge / experience to ensure the correct stakeholders are part of the discussion. A Sr RM is clear and concise in verbal and written communication (e.g., risk assessments, risk project/program
requirements, business reports), and trusted to present decisions to Senior Leaders and regional business partners.

Key job responsibilities
The qualified candidate for this role will be able to perform or will have experience with the following:
1. Draft and maintain monitoring agenda and collection plan for sub-region.
2. Provide guidance to Risk Analysts on key threats and risks, and how they should be escalated.
3. Maintain network of key regional stakeholders to ensure understanding of risks and adoption of
mitigations.
4. Present risk assessments to sub-region leaders.
5. Responsible for MBR, and contributes toward WBRs and QBRs, and other strategic documents
(e.g., OP1).
6. Initiate and own complex risk tasks, projects, or programs aimed at ensuring customers have
comprehensive response plans.
7. Support strategic development of TERA, such as goal-setting.
8. Represent TERA on key stakeholder calls (e.g., Ops WBR, QBR, and Peak Ops calls).
9. Engage new stakeholders in order to expand network of influence for TERA, including at the
senior leadership level and with teams outside of APAC.
10. Ensure promotion of TERA's activities to S&LP SLT and senior external stakeholders (e.g., Ops).
11. Responsible for ensuring Projects / Programs they own are consistently improving on cost
effectiveness
12. Responsible for ensuring Projects / Programs they own are consistently complying with security
standards
13. Responsible for ensuring Projects / Programs they own contribute towards controlling our
security incidents to an acceptable level
14. Responsible for ensuring Projects / Programs they own contribute towards meeting our planned
resources

Escalation
1. Lead complex and time sensitive risk assessment tasks / projects
2. Lead TERA Tier 1 event responses
3. Responsible for tracking actions for Incident Management Team events and supporting IMT
calls.
4. Inform senior S&LP leaders and other stakeholders about emerging risks identified within Amazon Operations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. Has proficient English communication skills (e.g., is able to effectively communicate program
guidance and risk assessments for all of APAC Region)
2. Politics / security / risk management / international relations university degree
3. Six years professional experience in risk management / intelligence / security.
4. Strong experience writing complex Risk Reports, MBRs, project charters, detailed whitepapers
5. Strong experience in complex project/program management
6. Strong experience implementing and improving complex processes, policies, and SOPs
7. Strong sub-regional expertise (professional or academic)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Security or risk management certifications (e.g. ASIS, RIMS)
2. Project management certificate (e.g., Principe2, Project Management Professional)
3. Experience handling complex data/analytics/excel
4. Knowledge of Japanese and Mandarin will be an added advantage.
