About The Affiliated Organization

101Reporters was founded by Ashoka Fellow Gangadhar Patil with the vision of establishing an independent platform that fosters connections between grassroots reporters and publishers. The goal was to create a space that empowers reporters from small towns and villages to share stories of public interest and reduce transaction costs for publishers. 101Reporters primarily helps grassroots reporters across India by providing training, editorial support, and access to resources such as public records and experts. We collaborate closely with reporters from story ideation to publication, ensuring the credibility and quality of stories. Additionally, 101Reporters underwrites the cost of all submitted stories, enabling reporters to pursue stories without concerns about whether they will be purchased. 101Reporters amplifies voices from rural India and brings attention to critical issues such as governance, environment, and society. The organization's focus on slow journalism and long-term projects allows for in-depth exploration of complex issues, fostering greater understanding and awareness among audiences.
