Job description
Perform surgical procedures: Conduct surgical procedures to treat diseases and conditions of the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other thoracic organs. This includes coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair/replacement, lung resection, esophageal surgery, and other complex cardiothoracic surgeries.
Preoperative assessment: Evaluate patients' medical history, perform physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests to determine the appropriate surgical approach and ensure patient readiness for surgery. Surgical planning: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and radiologists, to develop comprehensive surgical plans, considering the patient's condition, test results, and surgical risks. Intraoperative management: Lead the surgical team during operations, guiding the assistant surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical staff. Perform surgeries with precision, adhering to established medical protocols and safety standards. Postoperative care: Monitor patients after surgery to ensure their stability, manage pain, and address any complications that may arise. Prescribe medications, recommend rehabilitation programs, and provide necessary postoperative instructions. Collaboration and consultation: Work closely with other specialists, including cardiologists, pulmonologists, oncologists, and radiologists, to ensure comprehensive patient care. Consult on complex cases and provide expert advice to colleagues. 1) Basic and Advanced Cardiac Surgical skills As first surgeon to these procedures: Off pump Coronary artery bypass grafting Mitral valve repair Valve replacements MVR, AVR and DVR MICS Mini AVR, Mini ASD and VSD closure MIDCAB Aortic root replacement, Aortic arch replacement- hemiarch and total arch replacement Aortic surgeries dissections, aneurysm repairs, thoraco-abdominal aneurysm, TAVI MICS port access mitral valve repair and replacement, ASD closures, Carotid endarterectomies LVAD and heart transplants - as a second operator ECMO management percutaneous and open 2) Basic and Advance Thoracic Surgical skills As first surgeon to these procedures: Decortication, Talc pleurodesis, wedge resection of lung. VATS Lobectomy, Pneumonectomy, VATS lung biopsies 3) Pediatrics cardiac surgery experience As first surgeon to these procedures: ASD closure , VSD closure, PDA ligation, central shunts, BD Glenn shunt, Tetralogy of Fallot 4) Vascular Procedures- as a first surgeon have performed Embolectomies, Aorto- bifemoral bypass and traumatic arterial repairs A-V fistulas for hemodialysis Insertion of central lines, PA catheter, arterial lines, IABP and percutaneous lines for ECMO Surgical open & percutaneous tracheostomyJob tags
