Job Description Summary:
PayPal is searching for a Senior Director of Global Sourcing to manage the strategic and operational aspects of PayPal's Enterprise Sourcing program. This role will work directly with senior leaders across the organization to manage their sourcing decisions in accordance the enterprise policy and program requirements. We are searching for a leader with a proven and successful track record of influencing outcomes and driving tangible value in sourcing decisions. The candidate will be expected to lead sourcing and/or procurement activities at senior levels in organizations through collaboration and partnership.
Job Description:
The Senior Director of Global Sourcing will be responsible for all phases of the sourcing process and require the skills necessary to identify cost saving opportunities, assure contractual and supplier compliance, create competitive bidding environments, creatively negotiate and ensure seamless availability of products and services. The sourcing team will partner with business stakeholders to develop sourcing strategy that aligns with business objectives. The position will also be responsible for developing strong cross functional and supplier relationships, executing the sourcing process and developing a cadence of clear communication to both business stakeholders and suppliers.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Partner with internal leaders and key stakeholders to execute the organization's sourcing strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
- Supplier Relationship: Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, pricing, renewals and performance to ensure the highest quality and cost-effective solutions.
- Cost Management: Drive cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and process optimization. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Lead category sourcing with autonomy and accountability over buy and cost reduction targets.
- Provide leadership to business stakeholders with strong process responsibility to ensure our policies and process are followed to meet business timelines and objectives.
- Continuously assess and adjust sourcing strategies to respond to market dynamics and industry trends.
- Execute on cost reduction targets, supplier consolidation and utilization and partner with the assigned function to drive sourcing strategies across the functions.
- Ensure sourcing process integrity and maintain compliance to company policies.
- Develop comprehensive partnership with Legal and business owners to negotiate and draft agreements with appropriate business protections.
- Conduct RFPs, RFQs, supplier research and identification, benchmarking, qualification and competitive analysis of required products and services.
- Ability to travel as necessary to development business relationship and manage a global team.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

- Operates in a matrixed model with stakeholders and customers across Finance, Technology, Engineering, Product and Data teams across the global organization.
- Accountable for initiating and driving continuous improvement projects and/or support ad-hoc projects and critical initiatives in alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate long-term relationships with broad sets of partners and colleagues.
- Skilled in documenting sourcing requirements that are ready to share with external partners.
- Utilize a data-driven approach to identify cost saving opportunities and summarize vendor relationship information into a concise, clear summary for your audience.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, balance multiple projects, and remain focused on key priorities.
- Previous experience in leading sourcing teams and significant sourcing projects.
- Strong operational capabilities, with ability to manage projects, timelines and budgets, effective customer management skills.
- Highly collaborative, strong interpersonal skills and cross-functional team experience ability to lead and influence within a matrix.
- Demonstrate agile thinking by easily shifting between business-focused conversations with internal leaders to a sourcing-focused conversation.
- Ability to deliver executive level updates, and determine when to escalate to management and identify the right stakeholders for decision making.
- Critically analyze and assess the adequacy of internal controls and opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle.
- Ability to work globally and cross-functionally to lead change in a fast-paced environment.
- Well-developed sense of urgency and follow through.
- Affinity for a high-performance, project-oriented work environment.
- Team oriented individual and self-starter who excels at learning new processes and business functions.
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills with a strong ability to clearly communicate via PowerPoint documents and present information to all levels of management.
