Job description
As a Senior Facility Manager, your responsibilities would encompass overseeing and managing all aspects of the school's facilities and infrastructure to ensure a safe, functional, and conducive environment for learning and operation. Your job description might include:
1. Facilities Maintenance : Supervising and coordinating the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security systems to ensure optimal functionality. 2. Vendor Management : Managing relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers for maintenance, repairs, and facility-related projects. This includes negotiating contracts, overseeing work quality, and ensuring adherence to budget and timelines. 3. Space Planning and Utilization : Optimizing the use of physical space within the school premises by planning and coordinating office layouts, classroom setups, and other facility configurations to meet the needs of students, staff, and administrative functions. 4. Health and Safety Compliance : Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards by implementing appropriate policies, procedures, and protocols. This includes conducting regular inspections, addressing any safety concerns, and coordinating emergency preparedness and response efforts. 5. Budgeting and Financial Management : Developing and managing the facility department budget, forecasting expenses, and controlling costs effectively. This may involve identifying opportunities for cost-saving initiatives and allocating resources efficiently. 6. Capital Improvement Projects : Planning and overseeing capital improvement projects aimed at enhancing the school's facilities and infrastructure. This could involve renovations, expansions, or upgrades to accommodate growth, improve efficiency, or address specific needs. 7. Team Leadership and Development : Leading and supervising a team of facility staff, including technicians, custodians, and administrative personnel. Providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance, productivity, and job satisfaction. 8. Environmental Sustainability : Implementing initiatives to promote environmental sustainability and energy efficiency within the school facilities. This might include adopting green technologies, reducing waste, and promoting eco-friendly practices among staff and students. 9. Communication and Collaboration : Collaborating closely with other departments, school leadership, and stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities, and to ensure that facility operations align with overall organizational goals and objectives. This also involves maintaining open communication channels and addressing any concerns or feedback proactively. 10. Continuous Improvement : Identifying opportunities for process improvements, best practices, and innovations in facility management. Staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to continuously enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of facility operations. Qualifications : - Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Business Administration, or a related field. - Proven experience in facilities management, with a minimum of 6 years in a similar role. - Knowledge of building systems, codes, and regulations. - Strong project management and organizational skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. - Ability to analyze and solve complex problems. - Proficiency in relevant software and tools. Additional Requirements : Professional certifications in Facility Management (e.g., CFM) are a plus. - Familiarity with sustainable practices and green building certifications. - Strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently.
