Overview

The Safety Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe work environment for all employees, as well as compliance with safety regulations and protocols. They are responsible for developing and implementing safety procedures, conducting risk assessments, and providing safety training to staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and enforce compliance with safety regulations and standards
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards
  • Develop and maintain safety procedures, protocols, and guidelines
  • Provide safety training to employees, including emergency response procedures
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with all safety requirements
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement
  • Participate in the development of emergency response plans and procedures
  • Lead safety committee meetings and initiatives
  • Review and update safety policies in line with current best practices
  • Assist in the procurement and maintenance of safety equipment and gear
  • Monitor and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with management to promote a safety-oriented culture within the organization
  • Manage and maintain safety documentation and records
  • Participate in incident and crisis management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science or related field
  • Professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. CSP, CIH, OHST)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a safety supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (OSHA, NFPA, etc.)
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing safety procedures
  • Ability to deliver effective safety training and education programs
  • Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • In-depth understanding of emergency response protocols and crisis management
  • Proficient in safety data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
