We deliver data, analyses, transaction and strategic advisory services to energy companies, suppliers, traders, banks, investors and governments globally. The analyst department consists of five groups: E&P, Shale, Oilfield Service, Markets and Renewables. As an analyst you will collaborate frequently with our consultants, sales and marketing team.

The Role

Rystad Energy seeks an enthusiastic and skillful analyst with strong data science, data engineering or data analysis and implementation skills to join our Analyst Team. We are constantly improving and expanding our products within the upstream oil and gas domain, and this new role will be an integral piece of this ongoing development. The foundation of our products is a high volume of factual data combined with sophisticated in-house data management systems and forecasting tools used to model physical and market mechanisms. This Data Analyst position will be a key resource in gathering, processing, and interpreting well-level oil and gas operational activity in North America.

Tasks

  • Create and maintain effective data pipelines from complex and multiple sources to well-organized databases, dashboards or internal tools.
  • Analyze large amounts of data: propose innovative approaches to interpret and merge possibly conflicting sources into coherent datasets.
  • Identify outliers and propose mechanisms to mitigate their impact on commercial databases.
  • Collaborate with algorithms team on structuring and manipulation of data for forecasting or advanced modelling purposes.
  • Maintain and improve the existing code base of data collection, cleaning and interpretation.

Requirements

  • Completed University degree (Master or Bachelor) with excellent grades in mathematics, engineering, computer science, or a discipline with strong quantitative requirements (e.g. economics, physics).
  • Proactive, independent, and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • SQL: hands-on experience or strong academic background
  • Python: Work experience or demonstrated academic proficiency, for purposes of data collection (crawling) and numerical analysis.
  • PowerBi, Tableau or other visualization tools are an advantage
  • Interest, knowledge, or experience in Energy (oil & gas) is a strong advantage.
  • Good communicator with excellent English skills, both verbal and written.
