Job description

Purpose of role

Handle projects and Interface Management independently. Have Knowledge of Engineering, Procurement, Construction of Heater, Cracker.

Establish Standard Procedure, Prepare & Review Project reports. Prepare Project Progress Statistics for management review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management

Acts as Lead for Project from Project Management Function. .

  • Quality / HSE

Performs discipline and inter-discipline check of documents. Ensures that the required integrity and quality of the work is maintained. Familiar with International Quality/HSE management system and their procedures. Ensures timely corrective actions for identified non-conformities.

  • Project Execution

Executes the engineering and design works within budget and schedule.

Coordinates with other departments and resolves engineering issues.

Provides inputs during all design phases including interpretation of standards. Actively communicates with other departments to optimize areas of interface during design development, review and check processes. Discusses with support engineers and designers regularly on scope, resources and schedules. Organize and Participates in Technical and progress reviews of projects. Familiar with organization procedures and international standards and codes.

Following master schedules for all projects including resource schedules, execution methodologies, SOPS, milestones.

  • Business Development

Visits clients, attends seminars/workshops and makes technical presentations.

  • Proposals

Reviews scope of work and seeks clarification for ambiguous /incomplete / incorrect information.

Monitoring and provide project Input while preparation of tender drawings / specifications & finalization of requirements & estimates

  • Planning & Scheduling

Assist Project Management team in planning & scheduling of Projects. Provides input to project execution, planning and scheduling.

  • Contracting & Procurement

Identifying project specific Construction Philosophy and Construction Packages which require subcontracting.

Evaluating contracting works, handling negotiation, award & review of contracts as per contract regimes

  • Technical Review of designs and documents

Thoroughly guides the Engineering, PMT team and reviews all documents, analysis & design files to ensure technical accuracy.

Supporting Processes

  • Human Resources

Guides and develops junior staff to fulfill discipline engineering jobs. Helps in team building.

Graduation in Mechanical Engineering

Professional experience (yrs.)

10 Years for Degree & 12 years for Diploma: experience in Refinery & Petrochemical Projects, Industrial Projects

Key Competencies - Functional

Must have:

  1. Thoroughly conversant with analysis, design and construction of Cracker, Heater in refinery and industrial structures covering steel as well as RCC structures related to industries like hydro-carbon, refineries & petrochemicals etc.

  1. Conversant with Indian as well as international design codes and standards viz. IS, BS/EUROCODE, ASCE and ACI. Should able to develop material specifications independently.

  1. Must have experience & proficiency in Project Management, Interface Management, Estimation, Costing, Budgeting and Construction of multi million project

  1. Should have knowledge/exposure towards construction activities in Project.

  1. Should have hands on experience in Engineering, Process and Construction Project.

  1. Capability to lead complete Project Management for Specific Project

  1. Highly skilled in with thorough Engineering, Construction, newer methodologies, planning, inculcating systems, maintaining quality control and quality.

  1. Motivating, mentoring and leading talented pool of professionals. Lead by example.

  1. Knowledge of other international codes and exposure to FEM and ANSYS software.
