Echo Technician Job Description
Position Title: Echo Technician Location: HSR Layout, Bangalore, Karnataka Employment Type: Full-time/Part-time Reports To: Cardiologist or Cardiology Department Manager Job Summary: As an Echo Technician, you will be responsible for performing echocardiographic examinations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. Utilizing specialized equipment and techniques, you will produce high-quality echocardiograms and provide essential support to the cardiology team. Your role will contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care and the achievement of diagnostic accuracy. Responsibilities: Echocardiographic Imaging: - Perform echocardiograms, including 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and color flow imaging, according to established protocols. - Prepare patients for procedures, explain the process, and address any concerns or questions they may have. - Adjust equipment settings to optimize image quality and ensure accurate interpretation of cardiac structures and functions. Patient Care and Safety: - Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the examination, positioning them appropriately and monitoring vital signs as needed. - Recognize and respond to any adverse reactions or complications during the procedure, following established protocols and guidelines. - Maintain infection control standards and adhere to safety protocols to minimize risks to patients and staff. Data Acquisition and Analysis: - Record and document pertinent patient information, including medical history, medications, and relevant clinical findings. - Acquire accurate measurements and data from echocardiographic images, including chamber dimensions, wall motion, and blood flow velocities. - Perform basic calculations and analysis to assist in the interpretation of echocardiographic findings. Equipment Maintenance and Quality Assurance: - Perform routine maintenance and calibration of echocardiography equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy. - Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate repairs or service as needed. - Participate in quality assurance activities, including image review, proficiency testing, and compliance with regulatory standards. Collaboration and Communication: - Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment. - Communicate findings and observations accurately and efficiently, both verbally and through written documentation. - Provide education and instruction to patients and their families regarding the echocardiographic procedure and any relevant follow-up care. Qualifications: - Associate degree or certification in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology, or equivalent educational background. - Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or equivalent credential from a recognized accrediting organization (e.g., ARDMS, CCI). - Minimum of [X] years of experience performing echocardiography in a clinical setting, with proficiency in 2D, Doppler, and color flow imaging techniques. - Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology, with the ability to recognize normal and abnormal findings. - Proficiency in operating echocardiography equipment and image analysis software. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and colleagues. - Attention to detail and critical thinking skills, with the ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing clinical situations. - Commitment to maintaining professional competency through continuing education and training.
