Description Responsible for managing a Software Engineering team including defining team goals, leading the design and architecture process, overseeing the day-to-day tasks of the team members, and directly managing their work. The specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Directly managing a team of professionals responsible for the implementation of Agile-based development practices to design, architect, develop, test, and maintain a wide range of NodeJS-based applications and responsive ReactJS or AngularJS-based UI applications and functionalities with industry-leading engineering and design quality standards.
- Collaborating with Product Managers and Architects to ensure proper implementation of product requirement strategies and roadmaps.
- Managing and leading the design and development of end-to-end solutions for customer-driven applications and responsive UI applications/functionality.
- Managing and leading the effort towards scaling development so that many teams can work simultaneously on large and complex cloud-based products.
- Managing and ensuring the successful delivery of large-sized and complex cloud-based projects – as defined by the content, quality, performance, and time to market.
- Managing the development of a release plan for projects (within programs), proactively addressing deviations from the plan in collaboration with the senior leadership team.
- Monitoring the development and quality of UI and applications by following the quality standards set by UKG global quality organization and recommending improvements to the same based on new and leading industry trends.
- Participating in technical discussions and reviewing changes to application and automation test code changes to ensure that software coding standards are being followed by team members as prescribed by UKG quality organization and industry best practices.
- Participating in defect and root cause analysis for defects and customer-reported issues that cause service breakdowns or disruptions to UKG software usage.
- Ensuring good customer experience with UKG products by actively monitoring site reliability metrics, defect rate, production monitoring, and working with various stakeholders in customer-facing roles like sales and support organizations at UKG.
- Setting, communicating, and monitoring performance and development goals and achievements of individual team members on an ongoing basis.
- Working with Engineering Leadership at UKG to ensure a high level of motivation and engagement within the team.
- Working with Engineering Leadership at UKG to come up with standard metrics to measure and improve the engineering team's efficiency and reduce the cognitive load on team members.
- Collaborating with the various Delivery managers, Program Managers, Product Managers, and Architects to communicate the status of projects (including risks, issues, and constraints) in the context of business value and impact.
Qualifications 15+ years of experience in software engineering at minimum
Must also have had 3 years of experience at minimum managing engineering teams working with the following:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Hands-on experience with Design Patterns
- Exp. in Object-oriented analysis, design and programming, database modeling, etc.
- Design and development of backend services, and microservices with NodeJS.
- Development of UI applications using ReactJS/AngularJS and knowledge of Web Standards and Technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Core product development experience on Saas/Cloud/Multitenant based projects is good to have.
- Development of schemas for MongoDB and knowledge of MongoDB Atlas and MongoDB cluster management.
- Automated test frameworks (Mocha, Jasmine, Jest, REST Assured, JSUnit)
- Design and development of applications that leverage Authentication protocols including SAML, OAUTH 2.0, and Open ID Connect with PKCE and various database and cloud storage.
- Fluency in engineering methodologies and tools as well as understanding of software development processes.
- Great understanding of continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery process (CI/CD).
- Good experience working on JIRA/Confluence and other Project Management tools.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment is a must.
