ABOUT THE TEAM & ROLE:
Swiggy's StoreFront Engineering team helps customers enjoy personalized discovery and purchase experiences across multiple product lines (Stores, Food, Genie, and Instamart). The team is enabling this by developing thoughtfully crafted applications, smart cataloging, relevance-based search & intent-driven merchandising, checkout management solutions, and payment systems.
We are looking for engineers who have hands-on experience in building highly reliable distributed systems and have deep expertise in database design & performance tuning. Knowledge of Machine Learning and other Predictive Modeling techniques will be an added strength.
Engineering Managers in Swiggy not only contribute to the high-level architecture of several systems but also contribute to the overall success of the product by driving technology and best practices in engineering in their respective teams.
They establish technology vision for respective teams and demonstrate how to solve a deeply complex and hard technical challenge, and help communicate that vision upward (CTO), inward (peers and engineering team), and outward (product & business teams).
As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for
Building and operating multi-tenant ordering and payment platforms that work across all business lines and subsidiaries. This needs to scale to millions of transactions per day with 99.95% uptime while allowing new business lines to be deployed safely and rapidly.
Building and scaling Swiggy Money (our fast-growing wallet) across all business lines and subsidiaries.
What qualities are we looking for?
We are looking for a passionate, entrepreneurial, hands-on Engineering Manager to join the Bangalore Swiggy Engineering team
8 -10 years of experience in developing products with 4-5 years in leading a team
In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of application and front-end / Back-end engineers to drive innovation in full-stack product development, while relentlessly improving performance, scalability, and maintainability
Technically Hands-on, prior experience with scalable Architecture managing team of (5-10)
Coaching, and mentoring managers and Architects in the team. Good team management skills with the ability to multitask, strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience working with Product Managers and UX Designers
Experience with web technologies, PHP/ Java, Python, Linux, Apache, MySQL, Solr, Memcache, Redis, javascript, ajax, etc.
Experience with high-performance websites catering to millions of daily traffic is a plus with an ability to bring in software engineering life cycle best practices
