Job description
Purpose of the position:
- Ensure that all Mechanical systems provide adequate functionality and reliability with minimum cost of ownership in compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Lead and develop team of Mechanical engineers in the region.
- Support in development and implementation of a strategy for sourcing, engineering, maintaining and Troubleshooting Mechanical rotary and static systems in a standardized way.
- Drive continuous improvement of assets, work processes and people capabilities to maximize business profitability optimizing functionality, reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle cost of mechanical systems.
Principal responsibilities:
- Maintaining 100 % compliance in SHEQ (Safety Health Environment & Quality) requirements
- Related to Mechanical rotary and static equipment and human safety aspects.
- Drive and Perform reliability / Safety Audit of Mechanical systems and related workflows. Define and follow up on the resulting actions.
- Ensure Mechanical systems support is provided to the operating sites on timely manner.
- Develop & implement a strategy for the sourcing, replacement, engineering, maintenance and
- Troubleshooting of mechanical systems. This includes:
- Defining which activities should be insourced or outsourced.
- Standardization of equipment and service providers (incl. rate contracts / Blanket orders etc)
- Identification, selection & development of service providers
- Identification of obsolescence issues and planning & execution of suitable upgrade & exchange programs
- Application and ongoing management of condition-based maintenance strategies and associated data
- Ensure that the competence of maintenance personnel for mechanical systems (internal or external) is assessed and gaps between the actual and the required competence are closed.
- Ensure that maintenance for mechanical systems is adequate, cost efficient and in compliance to Linde work processes.
- Review and approve mechanical scope of major turnarounds.
- Ensure the site teams get adequate expert support in emergency situations.
- Support the investigation of mechanical system related trips.
- Prepare the contingency plan template to be used at sites.
- Lead the root cause failure analysis for major incidents and repeated downtimes.
- Feedback learnings from incidents to Reliability Improvement team / POL
- Reporting & Performance Management
- Review downtime reporting of mechanical system failures at sites in the region.
- Review internal and external maintenance costs and look for cost reduction opportunities.
- Review open actions for sites and track them to closure.
- Report implementation status of initiatives resulting from alerts, technical bulletins, Lessons from Reliability events and directives.
Modifications:
- Review and/or approve all major modifications and configuration changes to the mechanical systems.
- Ensure update of the related plant documents in document management system after modification
- Lead region implementation of initiatives resulting from alerts, Lessons from Reliability Events and directives for regionally driven projects work with project management function to provide expert input to scope definition, costing & scheduling etc. Testing and commissioning of major modifications of the existing mechanical systems including emergency situations.
- For mechanical systems of new plants or process units ensure that:
- Relevant requirements are defined and reviewed by members of the team.
- Mechanical system structures & vendors are compliant with Linde standards and specific project/site requirements.
- Team members participate in relevant project reviews and acceptance (incl. factory and site
acceptance tests, handover of systems)
- respective team members and maintenance teams are trained to operate, maintain and troubleshoot the new systems all necessary documents are handed over, are of good quality and are stored in the Linde Gas
- Global Document Management system in a standardized way vendors & service providers are aligned with Linde maintenance teams for troubleshooting and service.
- The 'Integrate new assets' workflow is applied through the Country Cluster with respect to mechanical systems.
Key Interfaces:
- APAC / Global Mechanical / Rotary Network - Align implementation of directive, alerts & initiatives.
- Develop / share Root Cause Analysis. Lend support where needed and collaborate on solving common issues.
- Site/Area teams - communicate directives, alerts & initiatives. Support troubleshooting, maintenance etc.
- Projects & Improvements - Where necessary develop design concepts and / or review Major EMOCs and provide expert input to improvement projects in terms of scope definition, design review /approval.
- Opportunity & Project Development - define and review technical requirements specific to local site.
- Participate in stage gate reviews, Lead handover and acceptance of mechanical systems. Participate in stage gate reviews and plant / equipment acceptance.
- Procurement - Work with Procurement to ensure that all supply agreements are properly managed to ensure maximum benefit to Linde. Support in establishing regional frame agreements.
- Suppliers / Service providers – Evaluation & Selection of suitable regional suppliers, agree on technical scope/solution, stage gate inspection to ensure quality.
- Statutory and compliance – Need based support to plant teams.

Required key skills (functional/technical):
- Experience in operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and design of rotary and static equipment and systems.
- Experience with mechanical isolation and re-commissioning.
- Knowledge of relevant mechanical equipment and systems.
- Good background in mechanical safety with knowledge of hazards involved in operation and maintenance of rotary and static pressure and vacuum systems.
- In depth-knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance techniques including the use of EAM / SAP PM to manage these processes.
- Familiarity with relevant national and international codes and standards.
- Basic Knowledge of ASU / HYCO / CO2 plants including the associated hazards
- Familiarity with Process & Instrumentation (P&I), logics and control loop diagrams with knowledge of control systems.
- Experience in root cause failure analysis
- Capability to do risk assessments and make calculated risk decisions.
- Experience in designing and building mechanical systems would be an advantage.
- Experience of using Computerized Maintenance Management System
Required qualifications/experience:
- Bachelors / master's degree in mechanical engineering or related subject.
- 12 - 15 years of experience in maintenance function of Air Separation / Fertilizer / Chemical / process plants.
