Patent Analyst/Researcher

We are seeking Engineers with excellent academic records and/or strong technical backgrounds in the fields of Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Systems, IT, or Information Science to be trained/absorbed into the patents field. No prior experience in patents is necessary but helpful. The job entails helping secure patent rights for some of the world’s best technology companies, and emerging technology innovations and being a part of our Patent prosecution team. As a Patent Engineer, you will use your engineering skills to protect a wide range of cutting-edge technologies for some of the most innovative companies in the world. Over time you could be working with inventors, researchers, and attorneys to evaluate invention disclosures, assess patentability, and draft applications, based on your skill and maturity levels.

Responsibilities Conduct patent searches (patentability/validity/ infringement/ Freedom To Operate) in the field of your expertise, analyze and communicate findings clearly and concisely to the customers Research skills are essential as you must effectively determine if comparable patents are pending to make recommendations about patent applications. Exercising independent judgment in formulating search queries, selecting from a wide variety of electronic databases and other resources, and refining search results. Review search results with value-added analysis and generate reports. Issue technology updates. Performing other scientific, technical, and legal literature reference searches per request. Become information specialists in such technical fields and support our customers in their quest to protect their inventions. Identify and analyze complex patent issues and problems and recommend actions. Stay abreast of Patent laws and technology trends and their impact on Indian prosecution.

Qualifications: 0-2 years’ experience. So freshers with excellent academic credentials or candidates with experience in this field are both encouraged to apply. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Systems, Information Science or IT. Having a Master’s degree is a definite plus. Candidates with additional degrees/certifications in Intellectual Property Law would be an added advantage. Must have an excellent academic record in your area of expertise. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate complex factual and technical information; Write and interpret many technical reports. Strong analytical and reasoning ability. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with various individuals. Strong organization, time management, and record-keeping skills. Knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel programs. Familiarity with prosecution docketing systems. Ability to understand and comply with confidentiality issues and ethical responsibilities. The desire to become a Patent Agent over time is a definite plus.
