Data Science Co-Lead– Reporting & Analytics CoE |  Global Analytics

Overview of the Opportunity

The Global Analytics team is a crucial pillar of the Reporting & Analytics Centre of Excellence, which is a part of the Global Finance function. It is a central, global hub that focuses on providing advanced analytics and actionable insights. We are a growing team, currently located in India, Poland, the UK, and Sweden. Global Analytics consists of a number of sub-teams that specialize in Data Engineering, Data Science (within which this opportunity sits), Tech, Product Development, Analytics Translation and Insights.

At our core, our team's purpose is to deliver outcomes that bring value to EY through harnessing the power of data to inform strategic decisions via advanced analytics and actionable insights. To accomplish this, we frequently incorporate AI/ machine learning techniques, products, and insights to develop transformative actions that lead to sustainable growth and higher profitability. We use a combination of SQL, R, Python, and state-of-the-art machine learning tools such as Data Robot, along with visualization tools such as Power BI, ThoughtSpot, Spotfire, or Tableau.

Our focus is divided into three main areas: Data Science, Bespoke Insights, and Product Management. Some notable examples of these areas are WalletScan, Trade Analytics, Market Activation Tool for EY Private, Best in Class Account Analysis, Sector Insights, Opportunity Forecasting, Revenue, and Direct Cost Machine Learning Projections for various business lines and stakeholder groups across Finance (FP&A), Markets & BD, Marketing, Knowledge, Operations, and Strategy. We are also currently working on developing other exciting local and global products.

Job Description

We are looking for a Data Science Lead responsible for producing solutions and driving data-driven insights for the company. This role will be one of two data science leads within the team who will collaborate but will each focus on different objectives to be solved through data science. The person in this role will be able to build complex models, predictive analytics, and machine learning models, deep-dive deep into unstructured data to extract insights. The person in the role will be able to work with data engineers to collect, clean, and prepare data for analysis. Finally, the ideal candidate will be able to communicate findings to stakeholders concisely, pitching it at the right level

Key activities:

• Experiment, research, develop and drive end-to-end model development, championing best practices that adds value whilst solving key business questions
• More generally, this Lead Data Scientist will have a comprehensive skills in the field of analytics, statistics, solid data science and machine learning experience as well as AI, using the latest technology to carry out their daily activities
• Responsible for producing solutions and driving data-driven insights for the company. Will manage and mentor junior data scientists.
• Will work collaboratively and proactively on solution development drawing from the expertise across the Global Analytics team, and beyond, where possible 
• Will take ownership of proactive experimentation on use-cases in the GA (Global Analytics) pipeline and seek new solutions that may be of value to the business
• Will proactively collaborate and share ideas with his peer group
• Specifically, this Lead will tend to focus on use-cases around:
  • Where use of Finance data domains is required drawing on experience and acquired data literacy of these datasets
  • Will be first to screen multivariate forecasting/time-series problems but it does not mean they will exclusively work on those use-cases
  • Required to be enthusiastically open to collaboration on use cases that do not fall within the parameters captured in the above bullet points

Skills and attributes for success:

• Data Science -  hands-on experience building complex models, statistics, predictive analytics, machine learning, diving deep into unstructured data
• Data analyst – able to manipulate and draw trends from large amounts of data, analyse problems, design and implement solutions independently, pro-actively suggest ways to solve problems and display analyses in a way that engages audiences
• Data literacy - Understanding of EY business model, Finance data and finance processes and tools preferred but not essential
• Leadership & management - ability to coach and mentor more junior members of the Team. Credibility and confidence to challenge and propose better ways of doing things as well as build bridges and harmonize divergent interests and priorities
• Communication – excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex financial data in a way that is easily understandable
• Technical -   R, Python, Git Hub, DevOps - desirable, Data Robot - desirable, Power Bi - intermediate, Excel - proficient, ThoughtSpot – fundamentals (not essential), strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, Azure cloud experience is desirable but not required

Prior experience requirements:

• Experience : 7 plus years experience in data science, statistics, machine learning, financial analysis, business intelligence/reporting
• Technology skill : R, Python, Git, Power BI – intermediate (for illustrating insights from analysis), Excel - proficient, ThoughtSpot – fundamentals (not essential), strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, DevOps - intermediate to proficient, Data Robot – nice to have, Power Point – intermediate (for illustrating insights from analysis), knowledge of collaboration tools (Mural, Miro, Whiteboarding – preferential for Teaming & presentation)
