Job description

Job Purpose -  The primary function of the position is to lead and manage the drilling and completion function for the assigned capital projects in offshore fields/ blocks providing leadership to D&C team to ensure all aspects are achieved. Key roles are to manage a multi-disciplinary team of D&C with the objective of - 
(i) Developing optimal project feasibility/ development plan for assigned asset to fulfil the organisational objective of monetizing discoveries in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
(ii) Assisting senior management with the justification and presentation of D&C projects to COMPANY and Joint Venture parties,
(iii) Ensuring effective D&C project execution and implementation to meet the defined business objectives, including the responsibility for safety and quality to meet the deliverables for the assigned field development projects (onshore & offshore)
(iv) Ensuring that the project risks and HSE elements are managed to the highest standard consistent with the COMPANY Management System and best international industry practices, and
(v) Optimising the net present value of the fields/ blocks through integration of technical and commercial business objectives. Internal Network - • Project Team

• Vendors, Service providers Education and Relevant Experience - 
• Engineering Graduate or Postgraduate in mechanical / petroleum engineering, management degree will have added advantage.
• Minimum 15 to 20 years of relevant experience (international experience will be of added advantage) in offshore and/or onshore Oil & Gas development projects. Experience of independently leading team is essential.
• Proven track record in planning / managing and execution of Offshore Exploration/Development drilling & completion campaigns and managing logistic support for the same is essential.
• Prior experience in Well design/planning will be an added advantage.
• Review of existing well designs, recommend design optimization, well/completion design, to include casing design, cement design, trajectory planning, and fluid programmes for producers. Business Understanding - 
Sound understanding of business processes and the impact of Risk and Quality Management in a business.
Good understanding of the international upstream oil & gas business. Areas of Responsibility - 
• Responsible for technical integrity and assurance of well design and oversee full integration between sub- surface and wells teams during the planning process.
• Possess a strong commitment to HSSE, in planning/implementation of offshore Drilling programs, through industry leading service providers.
• Competence / working knowledge with Landmark well engineering software packages (DIMS, Wellplan, etc) will be an added advantage.
• Preferably possess IWCF Well Control certification or equivalent.
• Experienced in preparation of Cost estimates for Drilling and Completion of Development wells (AFE).
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels will be an essential prerequisite
• Adept at Technical risk assessment, management, contingency planning, and mitigation.
• Monitor Contractor Performance Management
• Review of Schedule of Rates (SORs) and drilling/completion programmes and recommendations for improvement and optimization
• Coordination of in-house technical support and external drilling technical support
• Participate in the complete contracting process, including preparing scopes of work and specifications for rigs, equipment and well services, leading technical elements and preparing technical and commercial recommendations.
• Participation in rig/well site and service base audits for conformity to Indian and international standards.
• Will be accountable for drilling engineering and contracting activity and planning/execution of full field development Drilling and Completion operations. D&C Project management & execution - 
• To manage the implementation of various D&C activities through effective leadership to a dedicated multidisciplinary team and specialist support departments.
• To interface and manage assigned capital projects including planning, design, engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, Commissioning Contractors &     Sub-Contractors effectively to ensure successful completion the development projects within the approved cost & time meeting Company Quality & HSE standards &   requirement.
• To collaborate with relevant technical department and support department heads to ensure that overall quality of all technical D&C work is maintained within global accepted standards and that sufficient due diligence examination is conducted to assure these standards.
• To collaborate with relevant technical and support department heads to ensure efficient management of resources including direct reportees and demands on support/specialist groups to ensure that the project is effectively resourced and in particular to maximise the use of suitably qualified staff.
• To comply and ensure adherence on company’s Quality & HSE requirements in order to ensure the best industry practices are followed. Ensure business partner / contractor performance meets agreed standards at the workplace and effect behavioural change as and where required. General & financial management and reporting - 
• To assist in preparation of work program & budgets and update variance analysis on continuous basis, provide project reports in a specific formats/report in order to  ensure availability of information to Management for timely decision making.
• To ensure full approval of commitment, work programme and expenditures consistent with COMPANY and JV / DGH / MoPNG requirements.
• To ensure the senior management are appropriately informed of progress, including preparation of senior management reports and presentations. Knowledge & Skills - 
• Exposure to best-in-class methodologies involving technical integrity and assurance of well design and seamless integration between sub-surface and wells teams.
• Strong process and technical understanding skills for preparing scopes of work and specifications for rigs, equipment and well services and preparing technical and     commercial recommendations.
• Thorough knowledge of prevalent national & international D&C methods.
• Thorough understanding of national & international HSES system.
• Effective communication skills suitable for the senior corporate level, JV, business partners, contractors, governmental liaisons etc.
• Sound technical judgement in multiple discipline areas.
• Proven leadership skills and good relationship abilities.
• Proactive, self-driven and an inspiring team player to handle, nurture a team of diversified D&C professional.
• Excellent Presentation skills.
• Ability to work in diverse, challenging and growth oriented environment.
