In addition to being ISO 9001 certified, ERM is also accredited by NABET/ QCI (Government of India) as an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Consultant for projects requiring Environmental Clearance from Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) or State EIA Authorities (SEIAAs) for key industrial and infrastructure sector projects.
ERM's team of social specialists in India provide specialized advisory pertaining to social impact assessments, resettlement planning and implementation, human rights and social due diligence and implementation of social management systems. Our team is a center of excellence for regional and global requirements on social performance services and human rights assignments.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS: We are looking for an Ecologist/Natural resource specialist who would be responsible for the following: - Ensure compliance to cited terms of references in regulatory EIAs for biodiversity baseline assessments.
- Ensure compliance to international lender standards such as IFC Performance Standards (PS) (with emphasis on PS6) and the ADB Safeguard Policy Statement (SPS) .
- Carrying out biodiversity baseline surveys (both rapid and detailed) and assisting with environmental baseline surveys.
- Biodiversity impact assessment prediction through assessing impact magnitude and sensitivity of receptors and designing mitigation actions for addressing impacts using the mitigation hierarchy. Assisting with environmental impact assessment and mitigation.
- Compiling biodiversity baseline and impact assessment reports with language and technical rigor satisfying international benchmarks.
- Assisting in compiling Biodiversity Action and Management plans, where required, through collation of actions listed in 3 to 5.
- Effective communication on key findings of sensitivities and risks to ecological receptors to internal ERM teams and clients.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: - Master's degree in biological sciences, ecology, zoology, botany or related disciplines within natural resource management
- 2 -5 years of biodiversity baseline and impact assessment and management planning
- Strong background in biodiversity baseline assessments, management planning and impact assessment, & providing advice to private sector and government clients
- Practical knowledge and understanding of quantitative analysis tools and techniques and their application for biodiversity assessment and management
- Excellent report writing skills. Fluency in both written and spoken English is a fundamental requirement. Candidate should also include fluency in other Indian languages and also foreign languages (French and Spanish preferred)
- Previous experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in a consultancy environment
- Willingness to travel, including fieldwork exceeding 2 weeks and to various
