About the role
Luminar Technologies is seeking a Software Functional Safety Manager (for system & software) to define and manage software systems safety architecture to meet product requirements and functional safety targets. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams including system architects, electrical engineers, software engineers, and product owners to gather, analyze and document requirements, as well as validate and verify compliance with industry standards and regulations. This is the first set of lead hires for this function, as we look to augment this function at Luminar, Bangalore. You will be part of a high cross-functional team and responsible for rapid prototyping and product development at Luminar.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for Functional Safety lifecycle according to ISO26262 for perception SW development.
- Provide subject matter expertise on Functional safety of product, SW Architecture development including Safety standards and best practices for SW development.
- Responsible for ensuring creation of SW Safety requirements in compliance with technical safety concepts and technical safety requirements.
- Support SW architecture and analyze and improve SW architecture according to ISO26262
- Responsible for SW Safety Analysis like DFA and FFI and support VR für SW Safety analysis with internal and external teams for SW Qualification.
- Responsible to implement Safety mechanisms in architecture and their integration into various operating systems such as Linux, QNX and AUTOSAR
- Support internal SW teams to develop SW detailed design and requirements specification for SW units.
- Support and design validation and verification strategies for SW unit and integration Tests.
- Support creation of test specification at SW unit, SW component and Integration level.
- Define acceptance criteria for SW unit- and integration tests including SW verification reviews.
- Define and discuss Safety requirements from the software stack towards middleware/ OS
- Support Code quality requirements and documentation according to ISO26262 including Static code analysis, MISRA checks, SW Quality Matrix with code- and line coverage.
- Ensure software complies to relevant automotive industry standards not limited to ISO 26262, ISO 21488, ISO 21434, AutoSAR, C++, MISRA etc.
- Implement safety standards and SW development processes across multiple Projects.
- Provide training to internal Luminar system & software professionals as necessary to ensure efficient program execution.
- Research and review new tools, technologies and industry trends which might affect current and future products.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of industry experience in functional safety development
- Deep System and Software knowledge of Functional Safety, SOTIF and CyberSecurity on a management and engineering level
- Strong SW background with track record
- Experience with managing functional safety processes in an agile context
- Systems and software development and specification development in perception domain; desired in vehicle perception, robotics, ADAS / ADS or related
- Extensive experience with safety analysis methods (DFMEA, FTA, DFA, etc.)
- Extensive experience with COTS tools employed for safety analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to motivate others, drive collaboration, and quickly resolve conflicts
- Enjoy working within a dynamic and continuously evolving environment
- Experience with designing and development software in accordance with quality, functional safety and security standards (ASPICE, ISO 26262, AUTOSAR).
- Able to work successfully in cross-functional teams, especially across organizational and geographical boundaries
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with proofing or even assessing functional safety artifacts and processes is a definite plus
- Strong experience in Functional Safety for vehicle software
- Experience in embedded software testing as it pertains to automotive safety-critical software.
- Demonstrated research and application experience in software safety.
- Involvement in standards development.
- Experience in developing perception software algorithms.
- Experience in structural coverage of code - static and dynamic analysis .
- An impeccable professional record and a strong and demonstrable work ethic.
- Show out-of-box thinking and invent creative solutions for challenging problems.
