Roles & Responsibilities

The Role Context

As the Head of the Micro entrepreneur Program, you will have complete ownership of a transformative initiative aimed at empowering micro-entrepreneurs. The primary objective is to skill and support 1 million micro-entrepreneurs with 2-10 employees, to generate five new jobs each over a five-year period, thereby creating a total of 5 million jobs. This role requires a visionary leader with a passion for economic empowerment, a deep understanding of micro-entrepreneurship, and the ability to drive impactful initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the Micro Entrepreneur Program, aligning with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.

Provide visionary leadership to drive the programs success and impact on job creation.

Program Design and Implementation:

Design and implement a scalable program to skill and support micro-entrepreneurs in sectors that would lead to family-wage job growth

Develop training modules, mentorship programs, and support mechanisms tailored to the needs of micro-businesses.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate with government agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to enhance the reach and effectiveness of the program.

Build strong partnerships with educational institutions, business networks, and relevant organizations.

Resource Management:

Manage program resources efficiently, including budget allocation, staffing, and technology infrastructure.

Identify and secure funding from government grants, private donors, and corporate partnerships.

Capacity Building:

Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of micro-entrepreneurs.

Facilitate access to resources such as finance, technology, and market linkages to support business growth.

Community Outreach:

Engage with local communities to identify potential micro-entrepreneurs and create awareness about the program.

Foster a sense of community among program participants to encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

Proven leadership experience in designing and implementing impactful entrepreneurship or economic development programs with deep exposure to micro-enterprises

Strong understanding of the challenges faced by micro enterprises and strategies for sustainable growth.

Strong GTM skills for the microeconomics markets.

Experience in working with communities to create a platform for micro-entrepreneurs

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to build and manage partnerships with diverse stakeholders.

Bachelors/Masters degree in business or a related field with at least 15-20 years of work experience.
