Job description

Currently we are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as a Sr. Engineer – Electrical Network Analysis & Grid Studies.

Main responsibilities:

The Grid Studies and Network Solutions role is undertaking actions for the support of On Grid Solutions based on Engineering and giving technical support during the tendering and detail engineering phase.

 

The candidate shall execute individually or with the association of a team, to meet assigned objectives and perform electrical network analysis and Grid Studies.

 

The current role is expected to deliver Grid studies with available modelling tools e.g. DigSilent PowerFactory, PSS/E, PSCAD, CDEGS, CYMCAP etc. during Pre-bid (preliminary design) and post-bid (detailed design) projects.

 

Good fundamental capability in Grid Studies e.g. Load flow, Short circuit, Reactive Power compensation, Insulation-Coordination studies, Dynamic Analysis, Harmonic Analysis, Protection relay co-ordination studies, cable Ampacity calculations, earthing studies, Solar and BESS grid code compliance studies to meet the European country grid code requirements, feasibility of the energy storage system are expected.

 

Preparing and reviewing reports in the following areas:

· HV Power systems analysis – Steady-state studies, Dynamic studies, Electromagnetic Transient analysis (Lightning & Switching studies, temporary high voltage studies, very fast transient studies, TRV & RRRV studies), Harmonics assessments, Flicker, insulation coordination studies, P-V and Q-V analysis, Voltage stability, Tap changer optimization study, Protection Relay coordination study;

· Study the local grid code of European countries and perform grid code compliance studies for renewable energy generating power plants, hybrid power plants, BESS (Battery-based energy storage system);

· Power Transmission System studies involving assessment of SVC, STACOM, Capacitor Bank;

· In charge of developing design templates based on international standards (IEC, IEEE, NFC, EN, BS VDE DIN etc,), with supporting documents including training material;

· Responsible for collecting & arranging input for said studies;

· The candidate will be responsible for action plan elaboration, coordination with other teams, and the Clients on the dedicated part of said tasks and their execution, if required, and troubleshooting analysis to manage as a technical expert;

· Use technical knowledge to identify and provide technical input during the bidding process;

· Lead the technical development of team, coaching and mentoring.

Qualifications:

·Relevant experience in Electrical Network Analysis & Grid Studies specifically on;

·European Grid code connection study with detailed modelling on Power factory (DIGSILIENT) and PSS/E software which mainly includes Steady-state studies (such as Load flow, Short circuit, Reactive Power compensation, contingency analysis), Dynamic Analysis, Harmonic Analysis, Relay setting and protection relay co-ordination studies, etc.;

·Insulation Coordination studies with detailed modelling on PSCAD for Lightning and switching studies, very fast transient studies, TRV & RRRV studies etc;

· Cable Ampacity and thermal calculation for various cable installations using CYMCAP software;

· Earthing system design calculation with detailed modelling on CDEGS software;

Candidate must have an understanding of Single line diagrams, Electrical Layout arrangements and basic primary engineering.

An understanding and preferable hands-on experience with Solar Inverters, Solar Power plants and BESS Systems.

Good understanding of European country Grid codes, standards and regulations for System harmonics, Power quality, reactive power requirements etc.

 

Experience:

· B.E/ B.Tech Electrical and M.Tech in Power Systems Activity preferable;

·Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in electrical network analysis and grid code compliance studies, engineering design & electrical power systems studies;
