Supply Area South Asia (SASA) is one of the supply areas for IKEA comprising of South Asia Region comprising of India, Sri Lanka, Dubai and Bangladesh. We produce and supply IKEA products with affordability, accessibility, sustainability, and quality from the region for the global value chain. We work throughout the whole value chain - from supplier to customer. SASA has a rich history of sourcing from the South Asia region for more than four decades. 

Do you have a passion for sustainability, new comfort solutions and textile development? We are now looking to recruit a Material & Technology Engineer in the Category Area Textile Furnishings . This role requires extensive travel to supplier locations.

About the assignment
We must change. We have one planet with limited resources, at the same time the population is growing. It’s time for us to go all-in, creating a sustainable raw material sourcing for Comfort. IKEA overall target is to end the dependency on virgin fossil materials by 2030 and to ensure a 100% circular offer by securing that all products have circular capabilities. Materials need to be renewable or recycled supporting sustainable circular flows of resources.

About the role
As a Material & Technology Engineer within Material and Innovation, you will play an important role in the journey towards our 2030 goal. You will work to investigate and introduce alternative comfort materials, supporting the movement to our sustainable targets, anchored in Material Direction. You will work with internal and external stakeholders towards more sustainable product development for IKEAs products and help to build roadmaps to meet the Material Direction goals. You will be responsible to initiate and lead material related development projects and work closely with Material & Innovation Developers. You will be an important link to the product development teams and Range Innovation to secure the implementation of new materials and innovations. You will also secure knowledge sharing and lead material direction related trainings; for example, helping to understand the best material-application fit and making better material choices.
