Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backup Systems Engineer with 5 – 6 years of relevant work experience in backup platforms, specifically in Commvault, Backup Exec, and/or Veeam. The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in at least one or two of these platforms and possess a strong background in supporting and troubleshooting medium to large-scale, multi-site enterprise storage environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Subject Matter Expertise:
Demonstrate proficiency and subject matter expertise in at least one or two of the following backup platforms: Commvault, Backup Exec, or Veeam.
Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in backup and storage technologies.
System Support and Troubleshooting:
Provide advanced support for medium to large-scale, multi-site enterprise storage environments.
Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to backup systems promptly.
Hardware Migration:
Execute hardware migration projects for Commvault, Backup Exec, or Veeam platforms, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal downtime.
Collaborate with relevant teams to plan and execute hardware migrations effectively.
Operating System Knowledge:
Possess a deep understanding of multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and UNIX.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to interoperability with various operating systems.
Communication Skills:
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Document processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for reference.
Primary Skills:
Expertise in at least one or two of the following backup platforms: Commvault, Backup Exec, or Veeam.
Strong troubleshooting skills in medium to large-scale enterprise storage environments.
Hands-on experience with hardware migration projects.
Secondary Skills:
Knowledge of multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and UNIX.
Familiarity with other backup and storage solutions.
Project management skills for executing complex migrations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.).
5 – 6 years of hands-on experience in backup platforms, with a focus on Commvault, Backup Exec, and/or Veeam.
Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Commvault Certified Professional, Veeam Certified Engineer) are a plus.
Proven track record of successful hardware migration projects.
