Take the lead on site reliability and infrastructure for this small tight knit team that moves fast & values innovation. With start-up roots, but now part of a thriving global brand, you’ll enjoy the best of what both worlds have to offer + get to make a serious impact in a high traffic environment.
Who is Fillr?
Fillr is the world’s most accurate autofill technology, an ultra intelligent data exchange platform with a 95% + accuracy that is more accurate than Google/Apple’s autofill offerings. Pretty impressive for a small local Melbourne team, huh? It’s an exciting time to be joining Fillr as they are embarking on a new journey after merging with industry giant Rakuten which has over 1.6 billion users worldwide!
The products
They’ve rolled their auto-fill-as-a-service into a suite of mobile apps that are used by thousands of users daily in every country of the world. Fillr provides online shoppers with a fast means to transact anywhere instantly by removing the tedium of typing personal details every time a website requires ecommerce details such as name, address and credit cards.
Then there’s Rakuten’s Rewards cash back product. To date, their 17 million members in the U.S. alone have earned over $3.7 billion in cash back at their favorite stores. How cool is that? It’s a fascinatingly complex system, with millions of users and that is at the very heart of their business. Rakuten Rewards directly puts money back into the pockets of users, which is pretty damn cool to think about.
The techy bits
Fillr builds iOS and Android SDKs that use their in house API to serve Autofill to their clients. Their tech stack is built within AWS and mainly comprises VPC based architecture deployed by Buildkite CI/CD using cloudformation templates. The API is mainly written in NodeJS and is deployed in a multi region fashion to ensure scalability and redundancy across their multi-tiered client and user base. The in-form analytics are built using CoffeeScript and deployed by Buildkite via AWS CloudFront.
The Rakuten Rewards tech stack is a bit more varied, across a fleet of Java/Python/Go/Node serverless microservices hosted on AWS with Kubernetes, Docker, Snowflake which are built via Git and deployed by Jenkins and Github Actions. All of their logging and dashboarding is handled by Datadog.
The idea is to modernize Fillr and bring their environment more inline with Rakutens.
Your first 6 months will look like… getting deep into uplifting Fillr’s DevOps and SRE capability and tooling, before jumping into supporting and learning the broader Rakuten Rewards system once you’ve found your feet.
Your impact
💻Infrastructure and Cloud
You will get deep into AWS on your mission to improve and enhance Fillr’s DevOps practices, and make decisions on new tooling. Delivering and championing the adoption of innovative, automated, self-service infrastructure to meet the needs of engineering squads.

💸Efficiencies
Your passion for automation, challenging the status quo and cost effective cloud ops, tech & tooling will see you play a pivotal role in improving both time to delivery (MTTD) of product feature rollout and reliability (MTTI, MTTR) of services.
⚒️Driving change
You’ll use your consulting, influencing, and evangelizing skills to bring everyone - leaders and devs alike - on the journey towards best practices and enabling autonomous self-sufficiency with their automation needs as Fillr aligns their ways of working to Rakutens.
