Senior Hydrogeologist - Mining

Job description

The successful applicant would be responsible for many of the following:

1. Interface on ongoing and/or future mining hydrogeology projects.

2. Managing projects or associated tasks and undertaking specialist project work.

3. Interfacing with UK&I and other international personnel at a range of levels concerning relevant aspects of business delivery and development, resource planning plus staff development/welfare.

4. Managing and inputting to project proposals.

Key Competencies

Mandatory Skills

We did love to hear from you if you have these essential skills:

  1. Significant experience in Mining Hydrogeology (having reached a senior level in consultancy or in any other relevant industrial or regulatory profession).
  2. Total experience 8-12 years
  3. Extensive experience in mine groundwater management and investigation and provision of hydrogeological expertise/support through all stages of the mine life (prospecting, feasibility, permitting, operation and closure) in open pit and underground metal mines.
  4. Extensive experience in the quantitative assessment of the impact of mining facilities on groundwater resources, including through the use of analytical and numerical models through all stages of mine life.
  5. Experience in 2D and 3D numerical modelling of flow and contaminant transport from mining facilities, including the use of coupled geochemical models, heat models and probabilistic dynamic simulation models.
  6. Experience in the design and execution of field investigations including pumping tests, packer tests, installation of grouted VWPs and monitoring facilities.
  7. Experience in the collection and analysis of geochemical data, including the prediction of water quality from mine waste facilities.
  8. Experience providing specialist hydrogeological support to mining studies,international ESHIAs for funding institutions and Regulatory Permitting.
  9. Experience managing projects entailing significant groundwater modelling components.
  10. Team player characteristics with a desire to work collaboratively
  11. Desires to mentor and develop staff.
  12. Good communication/reporting skills and a desire to contribute to our business/service development.

Desired Skills

  1. Appropriate chartered status (CEng, CGeol, EurGeol or equivalent).
  2. UK and International experience.

Experienced in statistical and spatial data analysis
