Job Description

Join Wood Mackenzie Ltd, a leading data analytics company at the forefront of global energy transformation. We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with a passion for problem-solving, teamwork, and effective communication. As part of our team, you'll play a key role in developing and supporting our Corporate Analytics Solutions, transforming Wood Mackenzie through engineering excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Enhance and maintain the infrastructure of our Corporate Data Lake, ensuring optimal performance.
• Design and implement robust data ingestion and processing pipelines.
• Ensure data storage is secure and governance policies are upheld.
• Collaborate across teams to assess feasibility, scope, and estimate project timelines.
• Proactively manage project technical execution, addressing issues and aligning with best practices.
• Lead by example in code quality, ethical standards, and professional conduct.
• Drive the team towards continuous improvement, adopting best practices and fostering a culture of excellence.

Qualifications

Key Requirements:

• Deep expertise in SQL and database architecture.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including experience with Pandas and Pyspark.
• Solid background in Linux and shell scripting.
• Experience with CI/CD processes and tools, like Jenkins.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code technologies (e.g., SAM/CloudFormation).
• Strong foundation in software and data engineering principles.
• Knowledge of cloud computing, preferably AWS services.
• Experience with IPCs, APIs, and message queues.
• Agile methodology experience and a comprehensive understanding of SDLC.
• Ability to mentor and coach team members effectively.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/ECS).
• Knowledge of Data Warehouse modelling and tools like
• Experience with AWS Glue/EMR, Athena, Hive Metastore, or Apache Iceberg
• Skills in optimization, scaling, and ensuring system security.
• Understanding of business analytics; concept, tools, and solutions (e.g., Salesforce, Amplitude, Google Analytics, Microsoft Power BI).
