Women's Leadership in the Development Sector study (WLIDS)

The Rockefeller Foundation , aiming to foster inclusivity and support women in the development sector to join, grow, and lead. ( Report )in 2020 and today as a full-fledged initiative aspires to make the development sector more inclusive and conducive for women to join, grow, and lead the workforce. Powered by an online platform and offline interventions the initiative will build a community ecosystem for women professionals to access growth opportunities spanning upskilling, mentorship, networking, and collaboration. Additionally, the initiative will work with social purpose organizations providing facilitation, resources, peer learning, and other forms of support that will help them accelerate their gender integration policies and practices.

Position Summary: Arthan, hiring for Climate Asia's EquiLead initiative is seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Senior Gender Specialist to lead our efforts in advancing gender equality and promoting an inclusive workplace culture in the development sector. The Senior Gender Expert will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and evaluating gender-related strategies and initiatives for the organizations that will align with the EquiLead initiative and will also inform Arthan’s gender strategies and implementation

Key Responsibilities: Gender Strategy Development -

Develop and drive Climate Asia and EquiLead’s gender strategy, in alignment with broader diversity and inclusion goals for the institution as well as initiatives. The Specialist will also play a crucial role in promoting gender equality, mainstreaming gender perspectives, and ensuring the inclusion of gender considerations across all aspects of EquiLead’s strategy and intervention arenas. Provides gender integration -

focus technical leadership and guidance to project leadership, other program technical leads, and the EquiLead teams working on Organizational Development, women’s community building, research, and communications Gender Analysis -

Conduct thorough gender assessments and analyses to identify areas of improvement and opportunities for gender mainstreaming in organizations that will affiliate with the W@W initiative seeking to become gender-integrated and equitable as organizations Training and Education -

Develop and deliver gender-related training programs and workshops to raise awareness and build competency among leadership and employees at all levels of these organizations. Mentors and trains Climate Asia staff, partners, and stakeholders on gender integration and mainstreaming issues, tools, policies, and practices as they relate to organizational and initiative objectives. Organisation Development Programmes -

Design and deliver gender-sensitive training programs and workshops for employees across different levels within the partner organizations, enhancing awareness and building capacity on gender-related issues within the workplace. Guide and support the partner organizations’ HR/ people teams in developing inclusive recruitment and retention strategies, including the creation of gender-sensitive job descriptions and performance evaluations. Contributes to the development and refinement of tools, frameworks, and resources to equip gender integration in organizations Advocacy and Partnerships -

Build and maintain strategic partnerships with external organizations and experts to stay current on best practices and drive external advocacy efforts regarding gender integration and mainstreaming. Where needed identify partners who will accord knowledge, validation, and accreditation Metrics and Reporting -

Ideate and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure progress in achieving gender equality that can be developed into scorecards and toolkits as part of the OD work Research and Thought Leadership -

Stay abreast of emerging trends, research, and legislation related to gender equality, sharing insights and thought leadership within the organization. Conduct ongoing research and analysis to assess the partner organizations' progress toward gender equality and Women in Leadership objectives, utilizing data-driven insights to identify areas for enhancement. Ensure that research findings and data guide decision-making processes, supporting the improvements in our efforts within the partner organizations, as well as informing future designs and interventions from EquiLead. Collaboration -

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate gender perspectives into various aspects of the organization, including recruitment, talent management, and marketing.

Qualifications: A master's degree in Gender and Development studies or a related gender-focused field like gender economics, law/public policy/HRM along with experience in gender equality programming or an undergraduate degree in gender with a professional designation in gender. A minimum of 12+ years of experience in gender equality, diversity, and inclusion, or a related field, with a proven track record of leadership in driving change. Significant experience in designing, executing, and overseeing grant-funded development projects, with a central emphasis on promoting gender equity, including a strong track record of engaging in organizational development initiatives aimed at enhancing institutional processes, policies, and culture to be more gender equitable. Comprehensive expertise in gender-transformative programming, along with a deep understanding of the interconnectedness between gender equality, women's empowerment, and leadership within the context of professional development and NGO program implementation. Proficient in designing, executing, and assessing top-tier initiatives aimed at advancing gender equality and empowering both girls and boys. Proficiency extends to effectively conveying complex theoretical ideas, such as gender-transformative change, in a straightforward manner and applying them to tangible solutions. A solid grasp of the principles and practices of gender equality and/or inclusion, as well as a deep understanding of gender-related requirements and norms within various institutions. Additionally, a comprehensive awareness of the prominent gender inequalities prevalent in development sector organizations. Demonstrated proficiency in designing, monitoring, and evaluating transformational programs that are both gender-sensitive and transformative, with an inclusive approach. This includes the ability to develop pathways for sustainable and scalable impact. Previous experience in promoting the quality and effectiveness of gender equality and/or women's inclusion as a cross-cutting theme throughout various programmatic interventions. A comprehensive background exceeding 12 years in Gender Policy work, Capacity Development, Research and Evaluation, and fostering Cross-sectoral Partnerships. Strong knowledge of international and national laws, regulations, and best practices related to gender equality. Excellent communication, presentation, and training facilitation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to develop and implement successful gender equality strategies. Strong project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Diversity and Inclusion or related fields. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs.
