Senior Correspondent, Markets:

Reuters is seeking a Senior Correspondent for the Markets team to take on one of the most important writing and reporting roles in our Bangalore newsroom.

This Is An Excellent Opportunity For a Motivated Journalist To Drive Coverage Of Some Of The World's Biggest Financial Markets As Part Of An 8-strong Team In Bangalore. Acting As The Number 2 To Our Markets Editor, You Will Write Or Help Drive The Writing Of

The daily U.S. Stocks report, one of our most-read stories globally, covering moves in the shares of U.S. corporate giants from Apple to General Motors and data or news-driven shifts in New York's S&P, Dow Jones and Nasdaq indexes;

Reuters flagship Emerging Market reports covering a sweep of currency, bond and stock markets in developing economies across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa;

The U.S.-focused stories that make up our popular Stocks Buzz service;

Quick-hit takeouts jumping on major shifts in stock market sentiment and particular shares.

You will be proactive and tenacious in finding the true explanations for stock moves and feeding story ideas, issues and tips to our teams covering the daily flow of regulatory, earnings and event-driven news on the United States' largest corporations.

You will be able quickly to develop and cultivate a wide circle of contacts in the Wall Street trading world, asking the right questions, quickly, and never shying away from picking up the phone.

The Senior Correspondent will be expected to work hand-in-hand with the stock markets team and editors in New York and with colleagues across the newsroom in Bangalore covering global stories, supporting the Markets Editor and deputizing when needed.

The ideal candidate will pay great attention to detail and have an aptitude for numbers. S/he will be comfortable using Reuters data to identify and explain stock-market trends. Excellent news judgment is required and strong writing skills will be an advantage.

The successful candidate will report to the Markets Editor, Bangalore
