What You'll Do
This role will work closely with the global chief engineer and product strategy managers for the complete EV products promotions from EATON's portfolio. This role shall lead the component to system engineering on the key product differentiating attributes based on techology, customer adoption, end-user safety and cost. Armed with E/E systems and EV battey system knowledge, this role shall influence key decisions at product & technology roadmaps level with deep technical knowledge of competing products, technologies and various functional methods (indirect competition). Shall work on both regional and global assigned programs at the pre-development level to ensure our offering stays ahead of customer expectations in value, performance and cost.
- Posses strong understanding the power connectors, distribution architectures and safety protection goals for a typical EV & xEV application
- Work with sales team in converting the lead enquiries into compelling technical proposals with thorough customer requirements understanding
- Size and select standard components (fuse, contactors, connectors, battery vents, interconnects) per application, customer specific requirements
- Work with global teams to conduct design reviews, take SME feedbacks and strive to provide a effective and competitive solution to customers
- Lead solution discussion with customer's engineering to provide SOR compliance, technical concept and overall integration in Vehicle system
- Develop a connector selection matrix against power distribution specifications benchmarked by vehicle segments
- Develop understanding of current solutions, competing technologies employed by customers for safety critical operations (ex: short-circuit response)
- Support sales and marekting teams in promotion of EATON portfolio to EV applications, represent EATON in customer tech days
- Provide engineering inputs to cross functional teams during RFI / RFQ and pre-development pursuits phase and assist in cost estimation, finding alternatives to bought out components
- Review the design work done by E/E, Mechanical teams and provide feedbacks for design enhancements, innovation & cost effectiveness
- Champion customer platforms understadning and provide timely suggestions to global engineering and product strategy managers to technical and product roadmap plans
- Develop professional rapport with technical forums such as SAE / IEEE to stay on top of regulatory and safety trends
Qualifications - Masters / Bachelors in Engineering (Mechanical / Mechatronics)
- 12 years of experience with multinational automotive Tier-1 in hands-on technology & product development
Skills - E/E circuitry design, Selection of fuse, connector, contactor, current & voltage sensors, vehicle architectures (BEV & xEV).
- Application engineering, RFI / RFQ process know-how, demonstrated skills in technical solution development for highly engineered EV systems
- Interpersonal skills, high say-do ratio, sensible & assertive work style with international cross functional & cross cultural teams.
