Job Overview:

As Senior Development Editor: English (for School products), you shall be responsible for identifying, commissioning and developing high quality learning resources that align with the Cambridge English Qualifications for Schools as well as the NEP and NCF in the non-curricular space.

You shall be expected to champion the existing list of learning and assessment resources as well as develop new resources alongside working closely with the sales team on training sales colleagues. You will work closely with authors, content developers, and subject matter experts to ensure the production of top-notch materials that empower students to excel in their language exams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Strategy/development: In collaboration with Publishing Manager, act as Project Lead on allocated projects – develop course syllabus where required, scope and sequence, and content, creating clear and effective briefs for authors / writers on project(s) and liaising with them as well as freelance editors during content development, to ensure pedagogical effectiveness, market appropriateness, consistency, accuracy, legal acceptability, and appropriate realization of the agreed intent of the work.
  • Project Management: Schedule and coordinate the work of authors / writers, in-house and freelance editorial staff to ensure that content is delivered in a timely manner and to project specifications.
  • Research and commissioning: In collaboration with Publishing Manager and Regional Sales Managers, maintain familiarity with relevant target markets by undertaking market research to scout for potential projects; identify appropriate authors / writers; and evaluate and develop proposals with authors / writers in consultation with external reviewers and in-house colleagues. Also keep and eye on the relevant activity in competition.
  • Quality Assurance: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, production, finance and legal to ensure seamless content development and delivery. Train sales teams on the K-12 learning and assessment resources (print & digital) at regular intervals.
  • Editing: Assume overall responsibility for the content and copy editing of allocated projects by briefing and supporting in-house and/or freelancer staff and carrying out specific editing tasks as required; attending recordings and checking digital, audio and video materials; contributing to the selection of artists and checking sketches and final art; and ensuring page proofs, art, photos, audio, video and digital materials are checked so that all content meets the required editorial standards.
  • Sales Enablement: Conduct regular training sessions with the sales team on the K-12 products, prepare product pitch wherever needed, get regular insights from the sales colleagues on gaps in the market etc.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in English or Education.
  • 3+ years of experience in educational publishing, with a focus on ELT Learning and assessment resources.
  • Strong knowledge of K-12 English language curriculum standards and assessment requirements.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Familiarity with digital content development and e-learning platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with authors, content developers, and internal teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality educational resources.
  • Open to travel
