About the role

We are seeking a Senior System Test Engineer to develop test solutions and execute sub- system level validation for Luminar’s Lidar Sensor for use in autonomous vehicle platforms. The individual will be responsible for managing the application and adjustment of test strategies and procedures to meet product and customer requirements as well as functional safety and automotive quality standards. This role will be an individual contributor. Therefore designing, developing and executing testing to ensure projects are completed according to the project schedule and budget.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain detailed test plans / procedures / reports as per System Qualification Test (SYS5 Level) Create test bench, test specifications, test equipment definitions, for Lidar Sensor System Understanding System sub feature for Lidar based sensors on CAN, Ethernet Diagnostics, Flashing, Degradation, Scanner, receiver, Calibration…Blockage, Object detection etc. Perform System KPI and performance level testing for sensor includes Point cloud Performance, Range, POD, angular parameters, jitter, etc Create and maintain detailed test cases and scenarios to ensure thorough coverage of the sensor functionalities and performance through test execution, data analysis, and identify defects or inconsistencies. Identify opportunities for test automation and drive the implementation of automated test scripts to increase testing efficiency and accuracy. Perform requirements analysis to ensure test strategies achieve full test coverage using requirements management tools Monitor, track, and prioritize defects found during testing as well as collaborate with the development team to ensure timely resolution of issues in accordance with the Engineering Problem Management process. Participating system functional requirement reviews with other cross functional teams.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline 2 to 10 years of direct test experience within automotive industry (OEM or Tier 1) Experience with testing electro-optical-mechanical assembly designs (i.e. cameras, radar or lidar) Hands on scripting languages like Python, Labview,CAPL Strong understanding of ISO26262 / FuSA compliance for safety critical requirements Experience with analytical software (i.e. MATLAB, Minitab, Python3.x or comparable) Experience with requirement analysis and test method development Experience with execution and maintenance of diagnostic tooling such as Vector Experience with Ethernet Protocols and testing methods ( i.e. SOME/IP, TCP, SSH )

Preferable Qualifications

Masters or higher degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering Experience with System Integration level testing including safety goals Experience with test automation tooling (i.e. Python C++ LabView or comparable)
