Position: Sr. Meteorologist
Experience: 10+ years in Meteorology/Atmospheric Sciences/Climatology and related disciplines. Total work experience 15 yrs
Educational Qualification: B. Sc/ B.E. + Masters (Meteorology/Atmospheric Sciences/Climatology and related disciplines).
Job Profile We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced workforce analyst who would be responsible to develop different weather models to manage the Wind & Solar Power Forecasting activity in line with the guidelines of Central and State Electricity regulations as the case may me. The job profile requires an inter-disciplinary approach to Manage and solving the technical issues whilst also understanding the business requirements.
Role & Responsibility - Manage & develop forecasting team of Greenko Group.
- Providing Scope documents for new project developments and make improvements to existing models and services.
- Setting up and running global and regional weather models.
- Broadcasting of global NWP data into usable parameters and formats.
- Comparative analysis on multiple sources of weather forecast and observational data.
- Development of methods to improve the accuracy of operational power forecasts from whether data & models.
- Identification and characterization of complex relationships between multiple weather parameters and renewable energy generation forecast.
Requirements - Experience in Linux OS (Should have working knowledge in libraries like libX11, mailx, VPN, FTP) and Meteorological Software like CDO, GrADS, wgrib2, grib2ctl.pl,gcc, gfortran, nco, ferret, ncl)
- Experience in Programming Languages: Python and R.
- Prior experience in a research-based role focussed on meteorology.
- Experience in working with WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) model.
- Understanding of the underlying factors influencing model performance.
- Experience in working with BUFR (Binary Universal Form for the Representation), GRIB encoded data, Net CDF formats
- Experience in cleaning, visualizing, and manipulating large data sets.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and in a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the power and energy sector is advantageous but not necessary however a strong interest in solving global climate change mitigation and adaptation challenges.
