Job description
VFX supervisors are responsible for overseeing the visual effects process on a film or television production. They work closely with VFX artists and technicians to ensure that all of the effects in a project meet the director's vision.
VFX Supervisor Job Duties
A VFX supervisor typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Reviewing and approving work done by junior members of the team, as well as providing feedback to help them improve their skills
- Managing the day-to-day workflow of the department, including tracking the status of projects and tasks
- Scheduling and managing the work of artists, animators, programmers, producers, and other team members
- Coordinating with other departments such as production, art department, post production, and sound design to ensure that all aspects of the project are being managed effectively
- Creating and maintaining a project's workflow through software such as Shotgun or equivalent
- Ensuring that the team is working efficiently and effectively by creating schedules, conducting meetings, and providing feedback on projects
- Reviewing and approving work done by junior members of the team, as well as providing feedback to help them improve their skills
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with clients to create a positive working environment
- Overseeing the entire post-production process, including visual effects, sound design, and color correction

VFX supervisors' salaries vary depending on their level of education and experience, the size of the company, and the type of project they are working on. They may also earn additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
