Job Summary: A Backup and Storage Administrator is responsible for ensuring the integrity and availability of an organization's data by implementing and managing backup and recovery solutions. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining backup and Storage strategies, policies, and procedures to safeguard critical information. This position involves a combination of hands-on technical work, process management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The individual is expected to have deep technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead and mentor junior technical staff.
Responsibilities: Backup Strategy Development: - Analyze data requirements and design backup strategies to meet business needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data retention policies and compliance requirements.
- Develop and document backup and recovery procedures.
Implementation and Maintenance: - Deploy and configure backup software and hardware solutions.
- Schedule and monitor regular backups to ensure data consistency and completeness.
- Perform routine testing of backup and recovery processes.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: - Monitor backup jobs and address any failures or issues promptly.
- Investigate and troubleshoot backup-related problems to ensure data recoverability.
- Coordinate with other IT teams to resolve backup-related issues.
Capacity Planning: - Assess storage capacity requirements and plan for scalability.
- Optimize storage space through compression, deduplication, and other techniques.
Security and Compliance: - Implement security measures to protect backup data from unauthorized access.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and company policies.
Disaster Recovery Planning: - Contribute to the development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
- Coordinate and participate in disaster recovery drills and tests.
Storage Management: - Design, implement, and manage storage solutions, including storage area networks (SAN), network-attached storage (NAS), and direct-attached storage (DAS).
- Optimize storage performance and capacity to meet the organization's requirements.
- Implement data tiering and archiving strategies to optimize storage usage.
Documentation and Reporting: - Maintain accurate documentation of backup configurations, schedules, and procedures.
- Generate regular reports on backup status, performance, and compliance.
Upgrades and Patch Management: - Stay informed about the latest backup technologies and updates.
- Plan and implement upgrades to backup software and hardware.
Qualifications and Skills: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in backup and recovery administration.
- Knowledge of backup technologies, including both software and hardware solutions.
- Familiarity with storage systems, network configurations, and server infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Certification in relevant backup technologies (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Veritas, Rubrik) is a plus.
- Having working knowledge on storage products like NetApp/EMC/ IBM is a plus

Able to make parts of board, FPGA or PCB-Designs.
Specifies requirements, hardware test, hardware and SW-bring up. .
Solves a range of straightforward problems.
Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.
