Responsibilities
● Supports and mentor's student community across a network of virtual makerspaces, through video conferences, online forums
● Facilitates the creativity of student participants by demonstrating a genuine interest in their ideas, helping them define a minimum viable prototype
● Mentors' participants in the program for presentation in the demo day
● Coach students through various stages and decision-points along their journey
● Evaluate feasibility and quality of the teams at various stages in the program
● Work in collaboration with the program team, particularly technical mentors, to provide holistic guidance to the students and point them as appropriate to onboarded external mentors
● Work in collaboration with the program team to expand the external mentor pool
● Work in collaboration with the Maker Manager to identify key industry experts for deep-dive workshops to be conducted. Help coordinate workshops, webinars, hackathons, & other events if required
● Collate best practices and disseminate them across the community
● Inspire program participants by sharing experience, as appropriate to their journey
● Research to identify new areas for the program to incorporate
Work as a team member to support and further the goals of the department
Experience
5- 8 years of experience as startup mentor / startup founder / co- founder/ incubation centres business mentor
Desired skills / Knowledge
● Mentor at heart with a passion to help upcoming innovators, entrepreneurs, and makers
● Strong teaching ability
● Can call out the best in others and coach them toward progress and growth
● Generalist, quick learner, abreast with latest trends in technology
● Strong communication skills visible in writing, conversation and presentations
● Traits: Motivator and facilitator, curious, self-driven, empathetic, flexible , high integrity, cross-functional organizational ability
● Start-up bent of mind, interest & knowledge of the start-up & investor ecosystem
● Ability to connect well with stakeholders from different generations, age groups and interests
