Job Title: Sports Coordinator
Job Overview: A Sports Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing sports programs and events. They play a crucial role in managing sports facilities, scheduling activities, ensuring participant safety, and fostering a positive sports environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination and Planning:
- Develop and implement sports programs, leagues, tournaments, and events in alignment with the organizations goals and objectives.
- Coordinate sports activities, including practices, games, and competitions, and create schedules that accommodate participant availability and facility availability.
Facility Management:
- Oversee the scheduling and use of sports facilities, ensuring they are maintained, cleaned, and prepared for events and practices.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to address any facility-related issues promptly and ensure a safe and functional environment for participants.
Participant Engagement and Recruitment:
- Promote sports programs and events to attract participants, both within the organization and from the broader community.
- Engage with participants, parents, and community members to address inquiries, provide information, and maintain positive relationships.
Coach and Staff Collaboration:
- Collaborate with coaches, assistant coaches, and other staff involved in the sports programs to coordinate practices, game strategies, and player development initiatives.
- Conduct regular meetings with coaches to provide guidance, share updates, and ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols, rules, and regulations to ensure the well-being of participants during sports activities and events.
- Stay informed about safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and risk management practices to maintain a secure sports environment.
Administrative Tasks:
- Manage administrative tasks related to sports programs, such as registration, budgeting, fundraising, record-keeping, and reporting on program performance.
- Handle paperwork, waivers, permissions, and participant information in compliance with organizational policies.
Event Management:
- Organize and coordinate sports events, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently.
- Oversee event logistics, including venue setup, participant registration, scoring, and award presentations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation Management, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in sports program coordination, sports administration, or event management.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of various sports, rules, and coaching principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and interact effectively with participants, coaches, and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with safety and risk management practices in sports.
