Job - Special Education Head Teacher

Job - On Site

Location - Mumbai

Budget - 30-40 k/month

Team: Urban Employment

Reports To: Program lead

Experience - 3-5 years

Qualification: ● Sp. Ed / B. Ed / M. Ed

Role purpose:

Foster an inclusive and positive learning atmosphere, establish realistic academic expectations, and collaborate with the vocational facilitators to ensure a comprehensive educational and training experience. Oversee classroom environment, understanding the unique needs of each child, and implementing vocational strategies in accordance with the Sols ARC framework.

Key Responsibilities Deliverable Outcomes

● Set challenging and realistic expectations to inspire students to achieve their best.

● Encourage the integration of students with disabilities into mainstream activities, promoting inclusivity.

● Maintain professionalism when working with students with exceptional educational needs.

● Collaborate effectively within a team to address the diverse needs of students, ensuring a supportive learning environment.

● Work closely with families to optimise educational outcomes for students, fostering strong partnerships.

● Ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all students.

● Utilise research and instructional data to develop and implement Education Plans (EPs) for students.

● Demonstrate leadership by overseeing and supporting special education teachers in achieving EP goals.

● Stay updated on the latest educational methods through continuous professional development.

● Adhere to all relevant laws and regulations governing special education.

Person specification

Qualification: ● Sp. Ed / B. Ed / M. Ed

Prior Experience: ● 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in special education or a related field

● Demonstrated success in working with diverse learning needs and abilities

● Experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity within an educational setting

We work with the most marginalised group of individuals, those who have disabilities, mental illness, critical illness or are violence-affected to ensure they have equitable access to education and economic opportunities.

From working directly with individuals on margins to then partnering with some of India's leading NGOs like Educate Girls, Teach for India etc., we now work at a systemic level through our partnerships with two state Governments, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
