About the role: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Development Manager to lead a team of WordPress developers. This role is responsible for the development and maintenance of custom WordPress themes and plugins for high-traffic websites and reports to our Director of Engineering.
The ideal candidate will have strong management experience as well as hands-on technical experience in PHP and WordPress development in a modern software development environment.
- You will be responsible for technical design and development of various projects. You will work closely with various stakeholders including Technical Architect, QA (Quality Assurance) Team, PO (Product Owner) Team, PM (Project Management) Team, DEVOPS Team and other software development teams
- You will be managing the development team members
- You will report to the Director of Engineering
About you: You are someone who wants to build and scale high performance websites for our business stakeholders. You have a deep understanding of PHP development and developing highly custom Wordpress and WooCommerce sites with a working knowledge of Codeception. You have experience with front end performance optimization as well as back-end performance optimization. You have Experience with automated testing and test-driven development.

Your day-day: (aka Responsibilities)- Lead a team of Wordpress developers in an Agile environment
- Collaborate with other development teams to share best practices, technologies, and processes
- Work at least 4 overlapping hours with US Eastern Time to allow for real-time collaboration with stakeholders and teams (PO/PM/QA/DEVOPS)
- Collaborate with the Technical Architect on technical implementation, processes and best practices
- Responsible for technical architecture of the systems and designing for scale
- Ensure that the requirements are correctly stated and broken down into Jira tickets
- Estimate and commit to timelines for projects
- Create technical designs documents that will be used by team members for implementation
- Execute designs that are scalable, secure and production stable
- Review code and unit tests for quality and for troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot PROD issues and provide short/long term solutions to address them
- Document the processes/KT/how to docs to ensure standardization
- Review code and ensure the team is writing production ready code
- Release code to production based on the sprint cycles
- Participate and on occasions lead sprint planning and grooming sessions
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team
- Ensure that the team follows Agile development methodologies and processes
- Manage team performance, including setting goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews
- Manage resource allocation and scheduling to ensure that projects are completed on time
- Maintain a high level of technical expertise in relevant technologies
- Build, customize and maintain WordPress themes and plugins
- Grow our automated tests suites
- Optimize front-end and back-end code for high performance, stability, and scalability
You have: (aka Qualifications)- Access to reliable high-speed Internet and uninterrupted Teams video meetings during all meeting times
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of experience in web application development using PHP related technologies
- 2+ years of managing software development teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and teams (PO/PM/QA/DEVOPS)
- Worked in Agile methodology (ticket breakdown, backlog grooming, sprint planning, scrums, retros etc.)
- Strong experience in PHP, MySQL, Codeception
- Strong experience in Website performance optimization on front-end as well as back-end
- Experience in leading teams in an Agile environment
- Very strong written and verbal communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work at least 4 overlapping hours with the US team
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
- Proficiency with WordPress development model, both in PHP and JavaScript.
- Good knowledge of version controlling unit with git.
- Proficiency with the Linux command line.
- Usage of Chrome Development Tools
- Reading and understanding of Lighthouse Reports
- Set up and usage of xdebug
- Reading and understanding of Cachegrind files
- Familiar with Docker/Docker Compose, CI/CD pipelines and Google Cloud infrastructure
