Job description
Dolat Capital, a technology-driven quantitative trading firm, is looking to hire a network engineer to design, implement and support low latency trading network technology and solutions. The role will focus around co-Location networks, including client, exchange and vendor connectivity across Mumbai region.
As a Network Engineer, you will be working on the organization’s production network infrastructure, your mission will be to ensure the network is always fast (low latency), available, scalable and engineered to withstand unparalleled outages. You will be working in a team that combines network engineering, operations, system administration, and develop automation tools to enhance and operate our firm’s network platform. Responsibilities
- Network Design; configure switches and routers; emphasis on complex multicast traffic.
- Layout data centers; we have a complex WAN and LAN with about 4 data centers.
- Recommend hardware and software upgrades to reduce system latency.
- Install, configure, support, and maintain servers and desktop computers. Most trading is done on Linux servers. Development is a mix of Windows and Linux.
- Help design our own servers optimized for performance and low-latency.
- Develop scripts to automate repetitive tasks such as tape backups.
- Benchmark technology components to determine their latency and bandwidth.
- Network configuration management
- Investigate offerings or technologies that may be leveraged to optimize circuit and network performance (e.g. capacity, latency, stability, etc.)
- Review middleware and messaging software/libraries and see how the different processes can use them optimally
- Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose network problems
- Review capacity reports, problem records and performance monitors to evaluate network performance and make recommendations for improvement
- Work with the development teams to ensure all proprietary and third-party applications properly integrate with the firm’s network infrastructure
- Order and manage circuit extensions/cross-connects from carrier demarcation points to the firm’s cage and equipment
- Manage collocation sites at financial exchanges
- Maintain network diagrams and associated network documentation
- Upgrade network hardware and software, as required
- Manage providers to resolve connectivity related invoice discrepancies and faults
- Ensure that vendor SLA’s are met
Requirements
- Engineering degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Someone who is CCNA certification or who has done the CCNA & CCNP training course.
- Knowledge of Installation and Troubleshooting of Routers, Switches & Firewall
- Knowledge of Cisco, Arista, Dell Force 10
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent communication skills.

- Strong Network Engineering/Support knowledge.
- Good understanding of Unicast and Multicast LAN/WAN using EIGRP. OSPF, BGP, PIM-SM and IGMP
- Good Co-Location skills: exchange/connectivity/campus
- Good vendor technology knowledge: Cisco and Arista
- Ideally worked in a Low Latency trading environment (low latency WAN)
- Ability to not only troubleshoot complex problems but also to manage projects, design solutions and deliver technology implementations.
- Any knowledge of scripting/automation is desirable, as is performance, capacity and monitoring using packet analyzers such as Wireshark.
- Strong knowledge of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, ARP, IP Tables, routing).
- Excellent analytical skills, coupled with a strong sense of responsibility, urgency and drive.
- Experience with network security, including firewalls Fortinet/Palo Alto/CheckPoint would be a plus
